We're sharing the post below to help spread awareness of an important safeguarding matter.

The police have given us information about a WhatsApp group that many children in West Cumbria have joined called "100 before 2027".

We would strongly urge all parents and carers to check their child’s phone to ensure they are not accessing or participating in this discussion and if necessary block the group.

Currently there is very little known about this chat, however it is known to encourage self harm and su***de. Police have been made aware of this through a Facebook post from a concerned parent.

If your child has joined the group or if you have any information about this group, please report this directly to the police.

Please contact your child’s Head of Year or the school’s safeguarding team if you are concerned about your child’s wellbeing. [email protected]

Beaumont College Calvert Lakes Residential!

What an incredible time our Lancaster, Carlisle and South Lakes students had on their residential at the Calvert Trust!

They set off on Monday 18th May and quickly settled into their rooms near the pool before heading out for a walk and a delicious first meal (the puddings were a big hit… especially the sticky toffee pudding). The evening finished with archery led by Holly, followed by some downtime in the games room.

Tuesday took the group to Windermere for a trip on the Catamaran. Even with a bit of rain, spirits stayed high as students took turns steering the boat. After lunch on shore, they sailed back and rounded off the day with games in the sports hall.
On Wednesday the adventure level went up a notch with Ghyll Scrambling in the morning, then climbing and the big swing in the afternoon. Everyone showed amazing determination. The evening swim was well‑earned.

Thursday brought the High Ropes and the Zip Wire – a real challenge that every student rose to. In the afternoon they headed into the woods at Dodd for bushcraft, building shelters and toasting marshmallows around the fire. A perfect end to a brilliant week, topped off with certificates for all.

They returned home just in time for the end‑of‑term disco, tired but proud of everything they achieved. What a fantastic experience for our students.

Lakes Aquarium

Some of our Lancaster residential students have been making a splash recently as part of our 24‑hour curriculum!

A group from Beaumont College Lancaster headed out to Lakes Aquarium for an immersive, sensory‑rich learning experience - and they absolutely loved it.
From watching the mesmerising movements of the fish to exploring new environments and building confidence in the community, every moment supported engagement, communication and personal growth.

Experiences like this are what our 24‑hour curriculum is all about: learning that continues beyond the classroom, building real‑world skills in fun, meaningful ways.

Huge congratulations to Beaumont College South Lakes, along with our amazing students and their families, for completing the Coniston to Barrow Walk. The story has already gained both local and national press coverage, shining a well‑deserved spotlight on everyone involved.

A special moment captured in the lead photo features none other than Olympian Fatima Whitbread standing proudly with the group. A real achievement for everyone involved.

Beaumont College Lancaster Student Union welcomes Lizzi Collinge MP

This morning we were delighted to welcome Lizzi Collinge MP , the Labour Member of Parliament for Morecambe and Lunesdale, to campus as part of her ongoing community engagement with local organisations. Lizzi joined our Student Union group for an open and wide‑ranging discussion, spending an hour answering questions on everything from accessibility in the community, smoking legislation, and global conflict, to the lighter essentials like her favourite tipple and which football team she supports.

Our Student Union thoroughly enjoyed the visit and valued the chance to speak directly with a local MP about issues that matter to them. It was an engaging and insightful session that left our students feeling heard and empowered.

Robbie's Success Story at The Coro Theatre in Ulverston

The team at Beaumont College South Lakes pride themselves on connecting with local businesses and organisations in the Furness area. This networking enables us to provide opportunities for students to participate in work placements, voluntary employment and career coaching.

Student Robbie is just one example of how successful and rewarding this can be. When he first started college, Robbie needed support to build his confidence, self esteem and purpose. Now in his third year at college, Robbie has found a role that he not only really enjoys, but which meets a variety of areas for emotional and professional development.

Since beginning his volunteer role at The Coro - a theatre in Ulverston - a few months ago, he has made outstanding progress. His confidence has grown significantly, he works with increasing independence, and he clearly enjoys every aspect of the experience. He has a Front of House role in which he checks tickets and shows the audience to their seats. So far, Robbie has enjoyed involvement with shows such as The History of Rock and The Mersey Beatles. He also helped with organising the Printfest 2026 event.

As he moves forward, he will also be taking on design tasks for upcoming projects, an opportunity that aligns perfectly with his interests and enthusiasm.

Oceans and Holiday - Ensembe Reza

On Wednesday, a group of Beaumont College Sussex students enjoyed their first creative session with the brilliant Ensemble Reza. The students had the chance to explore a variety of instruments and work together to choose a theme for the next three weeks of collaboration.

They landed on “Oceans and Holiday”, a theme already sparking fantastic ideas as they begin their songwriting sessions. Students have also started crafting props - rolling ocean waves, soaring seagulls and more - ready to bring their performance to life in just a few weeks.

A wonderful start to an exciting project that’s already showcasing imagination, teamwork and plenty of Beaumont spirit.

🌟 Student Success at Beaumont College Lancaster 🌟

Joseph, one of our fantastic Access To Learning Students has been making brilliant progress in building his confidence and social skills out in the community. He’s been embracing new experiences at his own pace - and it’s been wonderful to see his independence grow.

His latest adventure took him to Lancaster Castle, where he especially enjoyed exploring the Police Museum. Joseph loved discovering something new, and we’re incredibly proud of the steps he’s taking every day.

Keep going, Joseph - you’re doing amazing! 💛
