Rachel qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2008, since then she has worked as a District Nurse, Emergency Department Nurse and more recently as an MIU Nurse Practitioner. She is very experienced with a numerous range of ear problems, from assessing and treating infections to syringing and removal of foreign bodies. Rachel has completed an accredited Aural Microsuction Training Course recommended by the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists and is fully insured.

Ear wax removal is currently an - unregulated industry -, which means anyone can technically offer microsuction, regardless of their clinical background or experience.

When carried out incorrectly, there is a very real risk of discomfort, trauma, or damage to the ear. Your ears are delicate, and safe practice really matters.

With a background as an NHS nurse, alongside experience treating both children and neurodivergent patients, my focus is always on providing calm, safe, patient-centred care tailored to the individual sitting in front of me. 💜

Not every pair of ears, or every patient, is the same, and that’s why experience counts.

Rachel will be heading off on holiday soon, which means appointments are going to be a little more limited over the next few weeks 👂

We’re already fully booked this week, and next week we only have availability left on Tuesday and Wednesday.

After that, we won’t have any appointments available again until Wednesday 10th June 😅

So if your ears have been feeling blocked, muffled, or you’ve been meaning to book in for a while… now’s the time to get in quick before the last slots disappear! 💜

It’s a really useful little addition if you’re coming in for microsuction. We often recommend using it for a few days before your appointment to help soften and lubricate the wax, making removal easier and more comfortable.

In some cases, it can also help ensure we get a better result first time, reducing the chance of needing a follow-up visit. 💜

This is one of the most common questions we get and the honest answer is: for most people, no 😊

Microsuction is generally very well tolerated. You might notice a bit of noise or a light suction sensation, but it shouldn’t be painful. Everyone is different though, so we always go at your pace and check in throughout the appointment.

A lot of patients are surprised by how quick and comfortable it actually is 👂✨

If you’re nervous, that’s completely normal, just let us know and we’ll take things slowly 💜

With the Bank Holiday behind, lots of us may have been in the sea or pool.

Water can get trapped in the ear and cause wax to swell slightly, which can leave your ears feeling blocked, muffled, or “full.”

It doesn’t always mean there’s loads of wax, just that what’s there is reacting to the moisture.
