Here’s another tale from a CST practitioners’ table.

"This client used to bring her aunt to see me. Seeing CST help, started to wonder if I might be able to help her too.

She was in her early seventies, with a serious accident in her forties behind her - six months in hospital with back and neck trouble ever since. She was seeing an osteopath regularly, hoping things would shift, but they weren’t.

She asked if she could come and see me alongside her osteopath visits. I said yes, she was welcome to see us both - the body will use all the support it's offered.

We worked with her whole body - but her neck was indeed where a lot of the emotional story was living.

Two CranioSacral Therapy sessions in (just two) and her osteopath commented that he'd noticed a difference in her neck alignment. A lot was changing. Gradually we went from weekly sessions, to fortnightly, to monthly.

A year and a half on, she comes every six weeks. (I’ve told her she probably doesn't need to come that often, but she’s resolute: "I'm coming every six weeks.")

She finds it helps more than her neck. It’s helped her emotional resilience (that’s my phrase - she says it helps her cope). Her aunt is elderly now, her uncle recently died. There’s a lot of complexity with all that - grieving, caring, not-quite-knowing what's coming next. She says she can hold all of it in a better way, and still maintain a physically healthy body. She doesn’t think she would have been able to if she hadn't found this work.

I’m also a pilates instructor so we’d explored some gentle exercise too. The other day she came in and, to show me how just well she was doing, she did some squats. She's early seventies, with significant accident history from decades back. Doing squats.

When we listen to the body, things can shift, even if they’ve been stuck for years.

You can learn CST too. Our next CST1s are 13-16 May, Devon or 9-12 June, London.

🔬 Science Meets Touch in CranioSacral Therapy

This study brings fresh insight into the cranial rhythmic impulse (CRI).
By combining expert palpation with advanced physiological tracking tools, researchers found strong correlations between palpated CRI rhythms and measurable autonomic nervous system activity.

This strengthens the credibility of manual assessment while opening the door to new ways of refining therapeutic techniques.

💡 A step forward in showing that what we feel with our hands can reflect the body’s natural rhythms.
