"It is quite difficult to describe my Ember Flame treatment without making something extraordinary sound rather ordinary.
I went to Sally with an open mind, but without any particular expectation of what I was supposed to feel. What happened was unlike anything I had experienced before.
At one point, I felt an unmistakable sensation move through my body; almost like a wave gently tugging me from somewhere deep inside myself. It was powerful enough that I was completely aware of it, yet there was nothing frightening about it, in fact quite the opposite. I felt extraordinarily safe.
There was a sense that something was happening beneath the level at which I usually understand myself. As though my body, or some quieter part of me, recognised something my conscious wasn't aware of, but unmistakably true and present. That was perhaps the most remarkable part.
We spend so much of our lives trying to understand ourselves through thought: analysing, explaining, remembering, making sense of things.
This felt different, it felt as though I had momentarily slipped in a protective bubble beneath all of that, into something instinctive and deeply held within my own make up.
I cannot pretend to understand precisely what happened, and strangely, I do not feel I need to. As I instinctively felt Sally was going to look after me.
What I can say is that it was a profound, beautiful and unexpectedly moving experience. I left feeling calmer, lighter and somehow more connected to myself.
Sally herself has a wonderful gentleness about her. There is no performance, no pressure to believe anything and no sense that you need to experience the session in a particular way. She simply creates an unassuming space in which you feel held enough to be still and allow whatever comes, to come.
For anyone curious about Ember Flame, I would say go with an open mind rather than an expectation. You may not be able to neatly explain what you experience afterwards, but you will be so very pleased that you did.
Perhaps that is rather the point.
Some things are understood by the body long before we find the words for them."
