Clare Spiers - Grief Recovery Specialist

Clare Spiers - Grief Recovery Specialist I work with individuals to bring relief and peace so that they can begin to come back to themselves and transform their lives. Chair of WCAVA

I discovered the Grief Recovery Method when I felt lost, confused and in a lot of pain. I recognised that I was experiencing deep grief and I wanted to find an alternative to therapy and counselling to help myself move beyond the pain. Whilst recent losses (redundancy and the sudden loss of a family member) bought me to Grief UK, I came to realise, as I was learning the Grief Recovery Method, that

I had a significant amount of unresolved grief as a result of a family suicide in my childhood. Whilst it was somewhat daunting to revisit my experiences, I knew this was where my true recovery would begin. It has helped me tremendously, I feel lighter, and independent studies have proven that it works. As a result, I also learnt that I felt deeply compelled, (that it is my purpose even), to help others move beyond their pain and trained as an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist. Previous participants have also report having experienced recovery from physical illnesses as a result of completing the programme.

Could walking alongside people who understand help grief feel a little less lonely? 💚

This Sunday join us for our Grief Walk & Talk, Leamington.

Grieving can feel incredibly isolating, like everyone else has moved on while you're still trying to make sense of your life after loss. Friends and family often want to help but unless they've experienced something similar it can feel difficult to explain what you're going through.

That's why peer support matters.

Walking alongside others who *get it* can remind you that you're not alone. There’s no pressure to talk, no expectation to share your story and no timeline for your grief.

Just fresh air, gentle conversation (if you want it) and the comfort of being with people who understand.

On a really lovely note, Grief Walk & Talk has been shortlisted for the BBC Make a Difference Awards 💚

I’m incredibly proud to be among the finalists, alongside so many people doing amazing things in their communities. The BBC has put together a video introducing all of this year’s finalists, and it’s lovely to see the different people and causes being recognised.

I used to think grief was something you got through.

Now I see it differently.

Grief becomes part of your story. It changes you. It deepens you. It teaches you what matters.

Some days I still miss the people I’ve lost. Some days I still wish things had been different.

I’ve also found a community, a purpose and a way to turn my own experiences into something that helps others feel less alone.

That feels like a gift.

💬 If you’re ready to meet your grief with kindness you’re not alone.

I can help you move beyond the pain of loss, unresolved grief and emotional isolation so you can find peace, reconnect with life and carry your loved one's memory without being overwhelmed by grief.

One of the reasons Fleabag resonated with so many people is because it showed grief in all its messy, complicated humanity.

Not the neat version where you cry, heal and move on.

The version where you laugh at the wrong moment. Push people away. Make mistakes. Feel guilt. Want to run away and be held at the same time.

Grief changes who we are and finding ourselves again can be a messy, beautiful process.

“Everyone should learn this.”

That’s what my clients say when they discover the tools of grief recovery.

We’re taught how to acquire things.
How to build a life.
How to plan for the future.

But we’re not taught what to do when we lose something we love.

When someone dies.
When a relationship ends.
When life doesn’t turn out how we imagined.

No wonder one of the most searched grief questions is:

“Am I grieving wrong?”

The answer is very likely no…

But how would you know?

Nobody teaches us what grief is, or how to navigate it.

The Grief Recovery Method helps you understand your grief and gives you practical tools to begin your recovery.

For those who have experienced a loss, it creates the space to explore what’s been left unresolved, express what needs to be expressed, and begin to find relief, peace and a sense of moving forward.

Because grief isn’t something we should just “get over”.

It’s something we deserve support with. ❤️
