Don't start a diet today.
Or tomorrow.
Or any time this week.
It's great to set goals but the first week back in January is the worst time of the entire year to begin an extreme health kick or faddy diet.
Why? Because it's when we're most out of routine and the furthest from where we want to be. We have probably been eating and drinking more, maybe excessively, going to bed and waking later, exercising less and eating at different times.
Are you ready for an enjoyable new approach to your diet & health that doesn’t involve dieting?
Here are 3 things to do first to help you achieve long term improvements to your health and well-being this year.
1) Get hydrated. Being even mildly dehydrated can lower your energy, cause cravings, overeating, brain fog and affect the quality of your sleep. So this easy, free first step is the most important place to start.
2) Sleep. It's totally underrated. Lack of sleep or poor quality sleep affects our energy, mood, appetite, hormones and inflammatory response. So if you're tired or in a bad routine of late nights and not enough quality rest, this is definitely a priority for this week.
If you're hydrated and sleeping well, food choices automatically become easier. 3) Then you want to get back into a good routine of when you're eating.
* Eat at regular times
* Avoiding eating late into the evening.
* Don't skip meals.
