This morning, I’m reminded how important it is to step away from the noise.
To wake up somewhere different.
To look out at the sea.
To have a slower morning.
To simply be.
As a counsellor, I spend a lot of time holding space for other people — listening, supporting, thinking, reflecting and being present with whatever they bring.
But I also need to remember that I’m a person first.
I need rest.
I need quiet.
I need moments where I’m not doing, fixing or planning.
Being away has given me space to breathe and reconnect with myself. And I’m reminded that looking after ourselves isn’t something we earn once everything else is done.
It is part of the work.
Sometimes stepping away allows us to come back to ourselves.
And perhaps that’s what this morning is for me — no big revelations, no pressure to achieve anything.
Just the sea, the fresh air, a slower pace… and a quiet reminder to enjoy where I am.
What does slowing down look like for you today? 🌊
