What pace do you feel drawn towards right now?

On my walk this morning that question landed hard.

There was a real mismatch between the speed I was moving at inside and the pace of the world around me. Made me wonder how often that gap exists without me ever noticing.

I’m spending 20 minutes outside every day, alone, no phone, just noticing what I feel rather than what I think. That feeling is the beginning of a kind of communication between you and nature, not just an observation.

I’m also tracking ā€œaha momentsā€, the moments where something shifts and you suddenly understand or experience something in a different way. Some days that happens. Some days it’s just the practice of slowing down enough to notice.

If you want to join in with this experiment answer this question in the comments below:

What’s one thing you’ve noticed in nature today?

You don’t have to live in an Ashram to come back to your Self.

We are so fortunate to be living at this time in human history.

Imagine wanting to learn meditation 100 years ago.

You might have had to travel all the way to India, find a teacher, and perhaps spend years living in an Ashram or even a cave, learning diligently until you found a practice that took you to that deep place of stillness within yourself.

And honestly, there is something incredibly beautiful and romantic about that path.

The tradition of going to live with a teacher, dedicating yourself to spiritual practice and stepping away from ordinary life is very powerful.

But it’s not everyone’s path.

Most of us have jobs. Relationships. Families. Responsibilities. Bills to pay.

This is our path.

We don’t need to leave this path behind to find ourselves.

We want a practice that helps us live in the world better — something that can make us more fulfilled, clearer and more balanced while we’re actually living our lives.

Today, we have access to a whole wealth of meditation techniques that allow us to access that silence within.

One of those techniques is Transcendental Meditation — a technique that I practise and teach.

Brought out in the 1950s by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, TM is an effortless, natural technique that allows the mind to settle and come back to the silent depths of itself.

And what’s amazing is that this ancient Vedic technique, passed down through many generations, can now be learnt from a certified teacher in a city like Leeds.

You don’t have to leave your life behind.

You can learn to come back to that deeper level of yourself while living it.

If you’re curious about TM and would like to learn more, send me a message or book a free 20-minute call through the link in my bio. I’m happy to chat and answer any questions.

We all need a space where we can talk about the things that matter most to us.

Our experiences. Our questions about life. Consciousness. Meditation. The things we’re passionate about.

I’ve had people learn TM and come along to one of our meditators’ meetings at the Leeds TM centre, only to say:

ā€œI haven’t been able to have these conversations with any of my friends.ā€

It’s easy to feel alone when the things you’re interested in aren’t necessarily the things you talk about with the people around you.

That’s one of the things I love about what we are building in Leeds.

The meditators’ meetings we host are an opportunity to meet new people, share experiences, have meaningful conversations, meditate together and simply enjoy being around like-minded people.

Meditation might be a personal practice, but you don’t have to experience the journey alone.

Do you have people in your life you can talk openly with about meditation, consciousness, etc?

Starting to meditate is one thing. Making it stick is another.

One of the biggest things I focus on when teaching TM is helping people make meditation a natural part of everyday life.

For me, I meditate after brushing my teeth in the morning.

Brush teeth → meditate.

That’s an example of habit stacking, a concept popularised by James Clear in Atomic Habits.

Rather than relying on motivation or trying to find a completely new time in your day, attach your meditation to something that’s already part of your routine.

But there’s another important part: noticing the difference between when you meditate and when you don’t.

When you become aware of how meditation affects your day, you naturally have more motivation to come back to it.

You don’t need to be perfect.

Start with the intention to make it part of your life, find a consistent cue, and keep coming back.

If you meditate, what helps you stay consistent? If you don’t, what’s stopping you? I’d be curious to hear. šŸ™

Yoga is much more than physical exercise.

The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj — to join, unite, or bring together.

To bring together what?

The individual self and the universal Self.

In one aspect of the Vedic Literature, the Yoga Sutras of PataƱjali, PataƱjali defines yoga as ā€œyogaś citta-vį¹›tti-nirodhaįø„ā€ — the settling, or stilling, of the fluctuations of the mind.

In other words, yoga is about moving beyond the constant activity of the mind and experiencing the stillness that lies within.

The physical postures, or āsana, are one part of this path.

Alongside practices such as prāṇāyāma, the tradition describes a progression towards increasingly subtle levels of experience, ultimately leading towards samādhi — absorption in the Self.

Maharishi emphasised that the eight limbs of Yoga are not simply eight sequential steps, but interconnected aspects of the whole.

His approach was to make the experience of samādhi accessible through effortless practice of Transcendental Meditation.

What comes to mind when you hear the word ā€œyogaā€?

What happens when the mind settles into silence?

Two things begin to happen.

We can experience a profound state of rest. This allows the body to release deeply held stress.

At the same time, we begin to experience a deeper sense of who we really are, beyond the constant activity of the mind.

I’d love to hear your thoughts below. šŸ‘‡

āœØšŸ™ā€œThe next message you need is always right where you areā€ - Ram Dass

The messages you seek are there all the time.

Right under your nose…

Are you done looking outwards?

Why not look in the last place you would look.

Right here.

Right now.

Are you aware.

Can you see?

ā¤ļøšŸ™Œ It is easy to feel like you are dissolving into the crowd.

Not knowing how to make a meaningful impact on the world.

You may feel like all the important decisions have already been made by governments and companies.

But in reality, each and every person’s life can have a meaningful effect on the way we organise society.

Just like every cell of a plant has its part to play to make the plant healthy.

We have a responsibility to do our best to embody a healthy node of society.

Being compassionate and collaborative to aid the evolution of human kind.

Not in a progress addicted way, but in a way that is healthy and life supporting.

As Gandhi says we must embody our message and be the change we want to see.

We are all much more powerful than we could ever imagine.

Let’s step into our power and live authentically to facilitate healthy and necessary change. ā¤ļøšŸ™

Is your cup full? šŸ„›ā¤ļø

***

Are you able to be there for yourself when times are tough?

Are you taking actions on what you truly want in life?

Are you kind to yourself?

šŸ¤” Ask these questions honestly, staying open to what feelings may come up within yourself.

Self love is foundational to all relationships.

Without self love, it limits how open we can be to love.

Without self love, how can we accept affection from those that love us.

Without self love, we are unable to give without the expectation of getting something in return.

Self love is foundational. We have to prioritise it.

Let me know in the comments how you prioritise your self love. ā¤ļøšŸ™
