Over the past year one of our link workers Tobie has worked alongside the wonderful .leeds youth team delivering wellbeing sessions to young boys in school settings.

The sessions aim to raise awareness of the many issues that can affect boys health and wellbeing as they move towards adulthood.

Rather than ‘teaching’ masculinity, the sessions focus on nurturing the positive qualities that already exist within them.

Throughout the programme we work to challenge stigma and societal stereotypes often placed on boys and young men before they begin to take root, creating space for healthier, more confident understandings of identity and wellbeing.

11/06/2026 Manthology & More. Such a brilliant event, difficult task to capture its energy but having 14 poets performing their own words in front of such a public arena - Wow. The historic venue, Kirkgate Market; has a vast amount of people passing through daily. We had many stop and listen to poems. Alongside others who came and took a seat for the whole show. Each poet performed three or more poems. The poems shared varied in themes and subject matter; heritage, identity, love and much more. A real treat for us and the people of Leeds. A BIG thank you from us to all the performers who generously gave their time, energy and skill for this Leeds LitFest 26 and Northern Man Festival 26 event. 🎥 editor & creator of Manthology: Maz Sultan

It was the annual Hey Neighbour Celebration Event today. Delicious food, flowing dancing, sweet songs and wonderful Leeds volunteers and groups in all their diversity.

What better way to spend your Friday lunchtime than watching brilliant musicians and dancers and having great conversations about men's health?

We have some great performances lined up for our NMF 26 celebration event at Kirkgate Markets this Saturday, including Sefo Kanuteh.

Sefo is a virtuosic, soulful and authentic Kora and Balafon player from The Gambia.

Sefo’s musical inspirations are rooted firmly in his family line, with his father, uncle and grandfather paving the way for him; in the Mandinka culture, everyone has their own ancestral instrument specific to their family. Sefo’s father passed away when he was only 2 years old, so his uncle decided to teach him to play his own family instrument - the Balafon (similar to a Xylophone). Later on, Sefo also taught himself how to play his father’s instrument - the Kora (a long-necked harp lute). Playing these instruments gave Sefo the chance to travel throughout the country & beyond to help, heal and inspire communities through music.
