Thank you again 🤍

Update - For reference, I also ordered the adult versions to compare and can confirm that there was no obvious difference in fit or comfort - apart from the price tag … so do check out the kid’s section if you have small feet like me and want some leisure trainers for errands (not sure they would work for regular high impact sports but let me know if you’ve tried it!!) 👟

P.S. Going to share more shopping content on here as it’s something that brings me joy 😁

Something has to change 😖

I wasn’t planning to post during Allergy Awareness Week, but today nearly tipped me over the edge.

We were turned away from two eateries in a row - because of confusion around food allergies.

This isn’t about being difficult.
It’s about safety.
It’s about inclusion.
It’s about children being able to take part in everyday life.

Right now, too many families are navigating misunderstanding, inconsistency, and fear when eating out.

Something has to change.

I’m not sure what the solution is yet - but I do know that awareness and education are part of it. So I’ll keep sharing what life as an allergy parent really looks like.

If you’re a parent in the same position - you’re not alone 🤍

And if you work in food service or hospitality, taking the time to understand allergies properly truly matters.

🍽️ School dinners are back in the headlines and I went live on to discuss it 📺

There are plans to limit fried foods (and ban deep-fried foods) like chips and nuggets, reduce sugary desserts to once a week, and make sure meals include more veg, fibre and wholegrains.

As a dietitian, I see this as a step in the right direction - but it’s not the full picture.

Yes, improving school meals matters (children can eat up to half their daily intake at school!), but we also need to remember:

✨ It’s about overall eating patterns - not banning the occasional treat

✨ Food still needs to be appealing, or it simply won’t get eaten

✨ What happens at home (and on the way to school!) matters just as much

If we over-restrict foods, we risk making them even more desirable - especially for older children.

For me, the goal isn’t perfection… it’s helping children build a healthy, balanced relationship with food for life 💛

What do you think - is this a positive move or going too far? 👇

Thanks for the fun interview & 🎥

When I was in primary school, I had four adult teeth removed and a single wire brace that expanded my palate and moved my front teeth back. I was probably around 10 years old at the time.

Nowadays, thinking has shifted. With earlier intervention, orthodontic treatment can sometimes reduce the need to remove adult teeth later on.

I recently spoke to .daniel.orthodontist at about and why some parents might consider braces earlier - he explained some of the key reasons👇

• Preventing dental trauma – children are around 3x more likely to experience dental trauma if they have an increased overjet (when the top teeth stick out), as the lips don’t protect the teeth as well. 🛴

• Expansion – in younger children, the palate is still in two halves, meaning it can be gently expanded to change its shape and create space for adult teeth to come through, reducing the likelihood of extractions later on. 🪥

• Growth modification – while children are still growing, orthodontics can help guide jaw growth, potentially reducing the chance of needing jaw surgery later in life. 👨‍⚕️

• Underbites (this isn’t present in our situation) – treatments like protraction face-masks work best between 8–10 years and can reduce the chance of needing jaw surgery later by around 3x 👏🏻

• Bullying – both patient reports and research show that children with noticeable malocclusion (such as a large overjet or overbite) are more likely to experience teasing or bullying. 🙁

So here’s to prevention rather than cure… and bringing on braces next month, I’ll report back! 🦷✨

Has your child had a brace? Any tips for us? 🤔

Any questions comment below and I’ll help or try get the answer for you! Nic xx

So here’s to enjoying this chapter before the tween years arrive … what’s your little one like?! Or do you already know what’s in store for us?!
