The aim is to provide a tranquil environment for parent and baby to explore their spontaneous creativity. The session will be a warm environment bringing in the sounds of the sea and messy play trays that connect to the earth. The session will begin with some light meditation and humming for parent and baby to tune in to the land of making . There with be central displays of the outdoors for babie
s to explore along side mountains of paper and paint. This gives parents a chance to express themselves non-verbally and gain a greater understanding of their child. I am a qualified and registered Art Psychotherapist as well as a mum to 11 month old Sidney . I found myself as new mum turning to my roots as an artist and my experience as an art therapist to process my feelings and help me with the pressures and immense change a baby brings. I also used art to explore the love I felt for my baby and how confusing that feels along side sleep deprivation , loss of a social life and this sudden invisibility that seemed to follow me around . I have now got hold of those reins "some days" and want to have a space for parents to share whatever they feel in a safe environment amongst the honesty of other parents. I also want to give our little ones the best chance at tuning in to their own individuality and creativity. For babies this is a sensory based art experience . Babies are welcome to observe , slowly explore or dive straight in. There is truly no right or wrong way to making but what I can say is the process can be extremely therapeutic and for babies a great early education in confidence.
