Healthwatch Leeds

Healthwatch Leeds We make sure your voice influences health and care services so that these services are made better. Understanding our work & what we do

1.

Healthwatch Leeds is here to help local people get the best out of their local health and care services by bringing their voice to those who plan and deliver services in Leeds. We actively gather views from local people and communities about their experiences of services. We use these in different ways to influence change. Good Practice Principles

2. We work together with our health and social ca

re partners to identify how we can have the most influence and make the best use of our resources.

3. When services are planned or changed, we ensure that local people are being listened to. We will always check whether their views have been taken into account.

4. We provide an information, advice and signposting service for the public about finding and accessing health and care services.

We are supporting the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Leeds Biomedical Research Centre to find out how to involve people in research, specifically about people's experiences before, during and after an operation. If you or someone you know has had an operation in the last 5 years, get in touch.

They are particularly interested in hearing from people who may have faced financial limitations in accessing care. A thank you voucher will be given to those who have taken part.

If you hadn't heard, we recently published our annual report for 2025 to 2026. While a yearly report might sound boring or not everyone's cup of tea, you can believe ours is not. Our report is packed with examples of how we have used people's experiences of health and care to make a difference. It covers improvements made to mental health crisis services, community health services, GP care, the NHS app, support for people with learning disabilities and more.

You can read it on our website:

We regularly share your feedback about health and care services with the NHS and local authority. Last month, the Primary Care Team followed up on some issues with GP Practices in Leeds. The issues relate to:
- British Sign Language interpretation
- Calling a surgery
- Reasonable adjustments for disabled people.
Itโ€™s great to see that your feedback is being acted on and changes are being made. If you want to share your experiences of health and care, call us on 0113 8980035 or email [email protected]

Small changes make a big difference!
