This International Nurses Day, we’re sharing a few stories that highlight the growth and dedication of our nurses. We have asked team leaders to highlight some of the best stories within our nursing teams, spanning from teamwork to outstanding career progression.
🩺 From Triage to Advanced Practice: Sheffield WIC
Daniel Clay, Amanda Marcroft and Paris Thorpe-Brown each began their careers with us as triage nurses. Keen to develop further, they enrolled onto our in-house Level 6 Clinical Practitioner programme, where they built on their existing experience with advanced clinical skills, decision-making, and leadership training.
Now, all three are taking the next step. They’ve moved on to their third Level 7 university module as part of the pathway to becoming Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs). Their progression shows the strength of our clinical development framework and how ambition, backed by the right support, leads to real career growth.
🎉 Celebrating our trainees
Amber Harrison joined us as a Nurse Associate and is set to complete her top-up to Registered Nurse this October. Rachel Webster, based in Milton Keynes, is about to begin her own top-up training.
Practice Nurse, Michelle Kendall is progressing through her ACP training, expanding her clinical roles. Meanwhile, Abigail Corkill and Laura Hudson, who started with us as newly qualified nurses, are now fully autonomous Practice Nurses after completing their preceptorship.
Across the group, many of our Practice Nurses continue to build on their skills with further training in core practice areas and long-term condition management; a real testament to the team’s commitment to delivering the best possible care to our communities.
📈 A Journey of Growth at the Light Surgery
Back in 2021, our nursing team at The Light Surgery faced some tough challenges with staffing. Fast forward to today, and we’re proud to have a thriving, motivated team at the heart of our practice, all thanks to the leadership of Zoe, our Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP).
Under Zoe’s guidance, several team members have made impressive strides. Edita is working towards her ANP qualification, Abi has completed her Diabetes and Cervical Smear training, and Becky, our experienced Practice Nurse, shares invaluable expertise. Amber is progressing through her nursing course, Sophie has started her Nurse Associate training, and Lauren recently earned her prescribing qualification in Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC).
The team’s synergy is remarkable. Not only do they work seamlessly together, but they also consistently provide exceptional care. This team is a true credit to our service, and we’re incredibly proud of everything they’ve achieved.
