Dear Sisters,

Let this year be the one in which you realise that your trauma responses and your coping mechanisms are not an illness. They are not a disorder of the mind. They don’t mean you’re ’wired up differently’. They don’t mean a lifetime of pills or therapies.

Let 2026 be the year that you validate your feelings, express your voice, ground yourself, trust yourself, understand your triggers and your experiences - and commit to loving yourself no matter what. Let 2026 be the year that you reject all labels, discard pathologisation, and recognise that you are not defined by a diagnosis. You will not live your life confined by a list of symptoms and medications.

Let 2026 be the year that you connect the dots between everything that happened to you, what someone did to you, your environment, your upbringing, your family culture and the systems that let you down. Let this year be the one that you see the patterns; and learn how to take back control of your life.

You are not ill. You are not mental. You are not disordered. You are not broken, or hysterical, or psychotic or delusional.

You are a whole human being - and what happened to you matters.

Raise a glass to the person you are today - no matter how hard that feels - because you have survived SO much. Validate and respect yourself for pushing through another year, even if it felt like walking on glass. You are so much more capable than you realise.

2026 is the year you let go of every judgement, narrative, victim blaming and pathologisation of you. Cast it aside. That isn’t you. That’s them. Those are constructs someone else placed on you - so they didn’t have to help, support or love you through something difficult.

2026 is the year of validating yourself and your experiences. You have that power within you.
