Birth control isn’t the only way to get clear skin 💊

This is something I really want more women with acne to know.

If you’re on the pill and it’s keeping your skin clear, it can feel really scary to think about coming off it because you’re worried your acne will return.

But this case study is a perfect example of why I always want to understand what’s actually going on underneath the acne.

Once you know where the imbalance is coming from, you can work through it strategically, step by step.

And honestly, acne doesn’t have to be as complicated as it’s made out to be.

You just need to know what to look for, what to address and in what order.

3 supplements I would never recommend for acne 💊

And no, I’m not anti-supplement. I’m anti taking supplements without understanding WHY you’re taking them.

Acne isn’t simply a case of “take more vitamins and hope for the best.”

🧪 I prefer a targeted approach: identifying the most likely drivers and using specific interventions where they’re actually indicated.

Because when it comes to acne:

More supplements ≠ better skin.

Sometimes, less is more.

Educational purposes only. Individual recommendations should always be based on your own circumstances.

Ai’sha’s journey from cystic acne to clear skin in 7 months 🧪

Ai’sha kindly put together this beautiful testimonial for me, and I wanted to share it because her story is such a lovely example of what can happen when you look beyond the skin and take the time to understand what’s really going on.

Ai’sha is based in Essex, and we’ve worked together entirely virtually, including all testing.

Yet over the last 7 months, we’ve built a relationship based on trust, consistency and a shared commitment to getting her skin to a place where she finally feels like herself again.

And now, something that honestly means so much to me…

Ai’sha trusts me enough to make the journey from Essex to Leicester to see me in clinic for her scar treatments.

For me, this is what my job is really about.

Not quick fixes.
Not treating every patient with the same approach.
And certainly not making promises about overnight transformations.

It’s about listening. Looking at the bigger picture. Understanding the individual behind the acne. And giving patients the knowledge, support and confidence to understand their own skin.

I work with patients across the UK, and so much of that work happens virtually, which is why testimonials like Ai’sha’s mean more to me than I can put into words.

Thank you for trusting me with your skin Ai’sha 🤍

And thank you for allowing me to share your journey.

Not an ad.

Acne isn’t just a skin problem.

If you’re new here, I wanted to give you a little look behind the scenes and share a bit more about what I do… and why this work is so personal to me.

I’ve experienced acne myself, so I know the emotional toll it takes on you, and feeling like every “solution” leaves you with a bigger problem.

That’s why my approach is different.

I look at acne from a root-cause perspective - using functional medicine, advanced testing, and personalised supplementation to understand the bigger picture.

We look at the microbiome, deficiencies, and hormones, because your skin doesn’t exist in isolation, and your approach shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all.

For me, this clinic is about creating a space where you feel heard, understood and supported, while we work together to understand your skin and what it may be trying to tell you for a real long term solution for clear skin.

🎥 So, come inside and have a little look around.

Before you buy that £40 supplement, read this 💊

They’re everywhere - Holland & Barrett, Amazon, your local supermarket…

But do you know what you’re taking and why?

Here are some common mistakes I see in my clinic, and what you can do instead 🧠

Save this for later, and share with someone who needs to see this!

Things that are worth the £

Would you agree? 👀 what have I missed from my list?

I’ve worked with people whose acne looked IDENTICAL on the surface, but the reasons behind it were completely different.

💊For one person, the biggest clue was coming off hormonal contraception.
🩸For another, it was insulin resistance.
🧠For someone else, it was stress disrupting ovulation.

The skin looked similar: inflamed jawline and cheeks… but the story didn’t.

That’s why I never assume the cause based on where your acne appears.

I start by asking:
When did it begin?
What ratios and levels in your hormone panel are suboptimal?
What other symptoms are happening alongside it?
Tell me about your 💩
Do you have any intolerances or deficiencies?

Because the breakout tells me where to look… but story helps me understand which hormonal pathway looking for. This is how you tackle “hormonal” acne long-term.

Hormonal acne isn’t always about blood sugar levels and testosterone… there, I said it 🤭

For most, it’s about how well your body is at clearing hormones. Specifically oestrogen, the female hormone.

Breast tenderness, bloating, period poos, and raging acne in the week before your period aren’t coincidental… they link to a much bigger picture.

Your ovaries, liver, brain, and gut are all a part of a much larger system… and the skin takes the fall for it.

My client experienced persistent redness, sensitivity, and painful nodules - and she was given one option… Accutane. We still have a long way to go with scarring, but honestly the process we’ve made, she NEVER thought her skin could look like this.

This is where functional testing changes the game completely. You need to look at your skin from a wider lens, it’s asking for help and you need to help it.

If you’re lost with your skin, constantly experiencing new breakouts no matter what products you use, currently on lymecycline, have PCOS or endo, and you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel… let’s talk.
