After more than a decade leading Midlands Care, the time has come to begin the search for my successor as Managing Director.
Not because I am leaving. Not because I am slowing down. Quite the opposite.
Looking back, I could never have imagined where this journey would lead. The acquisitions, projects, turnarounds, challenges and successes are now too numerous for me to count on my hands. To have achieved so much in such a relatively short period, without external investment and through little more than hard work, belief and persistence, is something I will always be proud of.
This decision is mine.
No journey of this scale is ever completed alone. Sagar was in the business before me and, from the moment I arrived, gave me the freedom to run, the trust to make decisions and the belief that we could build something far bigger than either of us imagined.
I would also like to thank my wife, who has put up with the mad scientist version of me for many years and supported me through every chapter.
As Midlands Care continues to evolve, I believe the next chapter requires something different in the Managing Director seat.
Not another Shyam. Someone different. A different perspective. Different strengths. Different ideas. Different energy.
To support this process, I have appointed executive search specialist Sam Sanderson to identify and attract candidates capable of leading the business through its next phase.
My focus will increasingly move towards strategy and creating what does not yet exist in a more executive role alongside Sagar and Shiv.
Finally, one thing will never change.
When things go wrong, the responsibility sits with me.
When things go well, that’s us.
I’ve always believed that leaders carry the blame and share the credit.
That won’t be changing.
