🌡️ Do you know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke?

With high temperatures forecast for today and the rest of the week, it's important to recognise the signs of heat-related illness and know when someone needs urgent help.

✅ Heat exhaustion can usually be treated by moving to a cooler place, drinking fluids and resting
🚨Heat stroke is a medical emergency and can be life-threatening. If someone has a very high temperature, becomes confused, loses consciousness or has a seizure, call 999 immediately.

Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the symptoms in our graphic - it could help you protect yourself, a family member, friend or neighbour during the current hot weather.

Remember to:
💧Drink plenty of water
🌳Stay in the shade where possible
👕Where light, loose-fitting clothing
☀️Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day
👩‍🦳Check on older relatives, neighbours and anyone who may be vulnerable to the heat

Knowing the difference could help save a life.

After discussions with our instructor Nicola, we have taken the decision to cancel the gentle exercise session at Scraptoft Hub on Tuesday 23rd June. We apologise for the inconvenience, but we feel the safety of users is our priority.

If you do any form of exercise (even a gentle walk) in the heatwave, please take appropriate precautions and stay hydrated at all times.
