Tight hips? I’ve got you. 🧘🏼♀️
If your hips are feeling stiff, restricted or just in need of a little TLC, save this one for later. 🤍
These are some of my favourite hip-opening shapes to help create more space through the hips, glutes, hip flexors, inner thighs and quads.
Remember — you don’t need to force your way into a stretch. Breathe, soften and let your body gradually open.
Save this post and come back to it whenever your hips need a little love. 🫶🏼
Which one feels best for you? 👇🏼
ELEVATED BUTTERFLY 🦋
Feet supported on blocks, soles together, knees gently opening.
The elevation gives the hips a little more support, helping you relax rather than force the stretch.
Great for the inner thighs, adductors & hip mobility.
Soften. Breathe. Let go.
FIRE LOG / SQUARE SIT 🔥
Stack one shin directly over the other, with the feet flexed.
A great shape for opening the outer hips & glutes, while working on hip mobility.
Keep it relaxed — breathe, don’t force.
SHOELACE POSE 🪢
Stack the knees and shins, then fold gently towards the top knee.
A deeper outer-hip & glute stretch that can help improve hip mobility.
Breathe into the space. Don’t force it.
HIGH LIZARD LUNGE 🦎
Front foot outside the hand, with hands supported on blocks.
A great opener for the hip flexors, inner thigh & groin, especially on the back leg.
Keep the chest lifted, breathe deeply and let the hips soften.
LOW LIZARD 🦎
Drop down onto the forearms and breathe into the shape.
Lowering the torso changes the angle and can shift the intensity through the hips, often creating a deeper sensation through the inner thigh, groin & hip flexor.
Same pose, different sensation.
PIGEON → SLEEPING PIGEON 🕊️
From Downward Dog, draw the knee towards the wrist and sweep the leg underneath you.
Find a comfortable position for your hips — use a block under the glute for extra support if needed.
Then fold forward into Sleeping Pigeon.
A beautiful opener for the outer hip & glutes, with the fold encouraging a deeper release.
Breathe. Soften. Don’t force.
PIGEON + QUAD STRETCH 🕊️
From pigeon, come upright, bend the back knee and reach for the foot.
Adds a deeper stretch through
