Sign & Rhyme

Sign & Rhyme Fun and playful baby and toddler signing and singing groups with songs, musical instruments and stories to develop early interactive skills Hello – I’m Marie.

My experience as a speech and language therapy assistant, coupled with my signing skills (British Sign Language Stage 2), sparked my enthusiasm for baby signing. I’ve been teaching baby signing for some time now, and I can appreciate the benefits for both you and your child: it’s a fun and rewarding way to make the most of your baby’s natural ability to communicate; it encourages and supports thei

r language development - you will always use signs together with the spoken word - giving them a head start when they begin to use their vocabulary, spelling and reading skills; and it strengthens the bond between you and your child.

🥰 Babies can understand so much before they actually talk, and baby signing enables them to communicate their emotions and needs effectively. Your ability to understand these needs through simple signs gives you the confidence to respond appropriately and helps to reduce frustration for you and your baby. The learning process is great fun, too and the classes are relaxed and friendly. Please call 07710 217466 message me via Facebook or email [email protected] if there’s any further information that you want to discuss, or for details of future course dates. My classes run at Bagworth Community Centre, Station Road, Bagworth LE67 1BH.

🥰 Weekly ‘Song in a Bag’ sessions. Age range birth to five years - £5 per session or £22.00 for five weeks (please note there are no refunds given for missed sessions if you pay in five week blocks.) Lots of fun for you and your little ones. Interactive session of signing and singing, musical instruments and so much more for you all to enjoy.

🥰 Five-week baby signing course to include handouts, £40, payable in advance. Age range 6months to twelve months. Learn specific signs to use with your baby in their daily routine. Lots of fun for you and your baby, a very interactive session for you all to enjoy.

Lovely to see the sunshine again, and that gentle breeze 💨💨 was very welcome this morning. Thank you all for coming along😍.

One of our young girls absolutely amazed us with her super‑spotting skills through the play binoculars 👀. First she noticed a man mowing the lawn outside, then she scanned the room for the children that her nana asked her to find, and she even named the colours of their clothes 🔴🟢. She also told her nana that my earrings looked like a 'flower'. Wonderful observation skills - well done, Nora 🥳.

We had the biggest smiles from Oliver, who not only did some brilliant tidying up, but was also signing away beautifully to our songs 🥳.

Elsie was making friends with our babies, Charlie was sharing so kindly with his sister and the other children, Sienna (nearly 6 months 🥰) reached out for our lovely octopus, Rory enjoyed peeking into our Sparkly Box, and we even heard June say “Hiya” when we all greeted her, right on cue - such a sweet moment.

What a fun filled morning of sharing, helping and friendships🥰
Let’s carry that sunshine into the rest of the week 🌞💛.

Have a great week, and hopefully I will see you all next Wednesday🥰.

Have fun.
Marie🥰

Wednesday wouldn't be Wednesday without our lovely smiley Sign & Rhymers🥰. It is always great to see you all - thank you for coming along today🥳.

🥳 We had fantastic listening today at Story Time🥳
'Cock-A-Moo Moo', I think you really enjoyed this story, and it was so lovely to hear all the animal sounds that you made as we went through the book🐥🐄🐖🐑🐓 - we were so glad the cockerel got his own voice back - 🐓COCK - A - DOODLE - DO🐓!!

Our focus today was all about commenting on what your child is doing, rather than asking lots of questions.
So if your little one is pushing their toy car, you might simply say “Pushing car.”
If they’re holding up an animal, instead of asking “What’s that?” you could comment “Ooooh, a lion!”

😍Using comments gives your child the vocabulary they need, right when they need it, and takes the pressure off them to answer questions before they’re ready. It’s a gentle, powerful way to support their language development every day.😍.

🌞I hope you have a lovely week with the sunshine - do you think summer is on the way?🌞

🥰REMEMBER - Sign & Rhyme is running next week🥰

Have fun

Wet and dismal day - but not for us at Incy Wincy’s Preschool - Bagworth, we had a lovely time with lots of smiles and chat 🥰.

I don't think the children mind the weather at all, as they were very enthusiastic about showing me their wellies🤩.

Great sharing from you all, and waiting for your turns. Well done all of you🥳

Three children guessed correctly what was in the 'Sparkly Box' - I wonder if you will remember what it was so that you can tell your families🤔.

Well done with our syllable clapping today.
Our first group had food words — and you clapped them beautifully:
Banana 👏👏👏, Cheese 👏, and Spaghetti Bolognaise 👏👏 👏👏👏👏 😍

Our second group explored transport words — and you were just as fantastic:
Skateboard 👏👏, Motorbike 👏👏👏, and Roller Coaster 👏👏👏👏

You are all getting so good at this, and it’s lovely to see everyone giving it such a confident try. Syllable clapping is a brilliant early skill — it helps children break words into parts so they can hear all the sounds. This supports clearer pronunciation and will be a huge help with spelling when they start school. Well done🥳.

I hope you all enjoy your half term break, and I shall look forward to seeing you all on 5th June😍.

Have fun
Marie🥰

🌟 Such a fun, lively morning at Sign & Rhyme at Bagworth Community Centre.

So lovely to welcome everyone today - and a special treat seeing one of our grandparents return with her third grandchild 🥰. Great to hear her older grandchildren are doing so well at school too 🥳

The children were amazing with their sharing and turn‑taking — older ones helping younger ones choose toys and instruments. so thoughtful ❤️.

🥰 Remember, our focus this week is Following Your Child’s Lead.
Offer them choices, let them pick what they’d like to play with, and join in by copying their actions and sounds. It builds confidence, connection and communication - and it’s a lot of fun too 🥰

✨ Sparkly Box Magic
Lots of you guessed it was a cat today 🐱
And the little girl who opened it proudly said, “Told you!” - she’s been saying for weeks there was a cat inside. Today she finally got to see it… pure MAGIC ✨

📚 Story Time – Goodnight Lion
The slide‑in torch was a big hit!
The children loved finding all the animals hiding in the dark - lion, snake, zebra, elephant, crocodile, monkey, gorilla and hippo 🦁🐍🦓🐘🐊🐒🦍🦛

Lovely to see curious minds at work🥰
Happy Wednesday everyone🥰.

Have a great week, and I shall look forward to seeing you all next Wednesday🤩.

Have fun

It was another fun Tuesday at Incy Wincy’s Preschool - Bagworth
With their smiling faces, the children sat eagerly on the carpet, ready for our songs and stories🥰.

Lovely to hear the children's animal jungle noises 😊. We had elephants trumpeting🐘, giraffes nibbling leaves🦒 and hissing snakes 🐍. Well done all of you🥳.

We had two stories today - Animal Actions and Greedy Stanley - and the children were absolutely brilliant at joining in.

Animal Actions - The children wriggled like worms🪱sniffed like dogs🐕, gnawed like busy little beavers🦫, blew like enormous whales🦈, and swung their arms like cheeky monkeys🐒 - PHEW, very energetic🤣.Well done all of you🥳.

Greedy Stanley 🐍— this story had everyone's attention today
It’s all about a boy who buys Stanley the SNAKE for a pet 🤣

No need to worry though — our children quickly decided they definitely wouldn’t want a snake at home…
According to the book snakes eat too much food, and they also eat cushions and plants 🤣

They had brilliant ideas about what to do with Stanley:
Some said they’d take him back to the shop, and one thoughtful little girl suggested taking him back to the animal world ❤️

So many clever, funny suggestions and lots of confident voices joining in. Well done everyone🥳.

Have a fun week and I shall look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday🥰.

We had lots of fun and smiles today at Sign & Rhyme 🥰Lovely to see little ones making friends with each other, taking turns, and helping each other clear away the toys etc🥳. Great teamwork and big smiles all around 💛.
🚦 Traffic Lights at Music Time!
A few little helpers wanted to be in charge of our Traffic Lights today 🤣
A tiny bit of guidance needed… but we’ll get there 🤣 and we love the confidence!

The children were brilliant at watching the colours change:
🟢 GREEN – play your instruments!
🟠 AMBER – play super slowly…
🔴 RED – stop and freeze!

Games like this help build attention, listening, and early understanding of instructions — all while having fun, making music, and enjoying themselves🎶
Such fantastic focus today. Well done, little superstars 🌟

Why not make a Traffic Light/Stop Go sign at home and use it when you are playing cars with your children, or use our Stop/Go circle song using some instruments - make the pauses longer to extend their attention🌟.

🧠 Top Tip for Attention & Listening 😊
We talked today about helping little ones build their Attention & Listening skills. One really simple way to support this is to have fewer toys out at a time.

When there’s less toys to choose from, children can focus for longer, explore more deeply, and stay with an activity without feeling overwhelmed. This helps build their attention span, supports focused play and it makes it easier for them to listen, and take in what’s happening around them🙂.

Good suggestions for what was in our 'Sparkly Box' - cat 🐈‍⬛, pig 🐖 horse 🐎- and a zebra 🦓, we have never had a 'zebra' suggestion before😄.

Thank you all for coming today, and I shall look forward to seeing you all next week🥰.

Have fun
Marie😍

Thank you to all the children at Incy Wincy’s Preschool - Bagworth for singing along to our Row Row song🥳. You were all amazing at 'SNORING' today as we introduced a HIPPO🦛 onto the shore - makes a change from a CROCODILE🐊🤣.

You also made some suggestions for our story - 'What Shall We Do With The Boo Hoo Baby' You said we could 'feed him' and 'put him to bed'🤣. Well done all of you🥳.

“You were great at clapping out some of your names - I loved hearing all your speech sounds.” - Brilliant, well done🥳.

It was a lovely morning seeing you all, and I shall look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday🥰.

Have fun.

It was a sunny morning filled with sunny smiles at Incy Wincy’s Preschool - Bagworth, and it was lovely to welcome some new faces. 🥰

The children had great fun with our 'Pirate Ship' song, digging for treasure, climbing the ropes, and shouting 'AHOY'—and it seemed the ship itself was a hit too! 🤣

They did a fantastic job rolling our transport picture ball to each other and sharing which vehicle they liked best.🚓🚒🚍🚂✈️🚁🛳️One boy told us he enjoys going on the train with his mum, and loves watching the trains as well😍.

You certainly know how to 'Boogie' to our 'Down in the Jungle' song - we had gorillas🦍, lions🦁, monkeys 🐵and an elephant🐘 dancing along, washing their clothes🤩. Great suggestions🥳

I hope you all have a lovely sunny Bank Holiday, and I shall see you all again next Tuesday🌞.

Have fun
Marie😊

💨 Windy Wednesday 💨
It felt like we all got blown in this morning 🤩

Our Sign & Rhyme group showed amazing interaction and communication skills today 🥰
It’s wonderful to watch the children’s confidence grow each week — so many new words are emerging, along with plenty of lovely social interaction 🥳

A highlight was hearing one of our mums use simple language with her little boy, repeating the word “in” several times to help him understand how to put items in the bag 🥳😍
Keeping language simple and repetitive really helps children hear, see, and understand the words being used 🥰

The sparkly box guessing game was brilliant — guesses included banana 🍌, potatoes 🥔, cake 🍰, and strawberry 🍓.
The answer? A cake with a strawberry on top 🤣. Well done 🥳

This week’s focus was 👀 Eye Contact 👀
Bubbles were, as always, a huge hit 🫧🫧
We also played Peek‑A‑Boo with scarves, leaving a longer pause before saying “BOO” to encourage longer eye contact — and you all did brilliantly 🥳

I loved seeing all the crawling today, plus stamping, clapping, twirling, jumping, and tip‑toeing. What an energetic morning! And some of you even headed to the park afterwards 🤣
I hope there was a bench waiting for the mums 😄

Have a wonderful week, and I shall look forward to seeing you all next Wednesday 🥰

Have fun,
Marie 🥰
