Following requests from both UK and international clinicians, we’re pleased to introduce larger gauge Rai Ear Canal Suction Tips to our range.

✅ 13G (2.5 mm)
✅ 11G (3.0 mm)

While 14G (2.0 mm) suction tips remain the most commonly used size for aural microsuction in the UK, larger sizes are regularly used internationally (including Australia, New Zealand, and the USA).

These new additions provide greater flexibility for clinicians when selecting the most appropriate suction tip for individual cases.

⚠️ Compatibility update
If using with Rai Suction Handles, the new 13G & 11G tips are compatible only with handles ordered after 04/06/2026, due to a design modification.
Good news: the updated handles remain compatible with all Rai Ear Canal Suction Tip gauge sizes.

Microsuction is a sound-sensitive procedure. Use of larger diameter suction tips may generate increased sound pressure levels within the ear canal. Cerumen removal should be performed by suitably qualified and trained medical or healthcare professionals only.

I received this email earlier this morning from a ®️ user regarding our new Teardrop Specula, and I have to admit, reading messages like this makes all the hard work worthwhile.

One comment particularly stood out:

“It’s rare to come across a product innovation that has such an immediate and noticeable impact on daily clinical practice…”

When developing the Teardrop Specula, the goal wasn’t to redesign for the sake of redesigning.

The objective was simple:
Improve visualisation.
Improve access.
Improve confidence.

Hearing feedback around enhanced views of the ear canal and tympanic membrane, improved procedural access, increased clinician confidence, and even perceived improvements in patient comfort is incredibly rewarding.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that the smallest design changes can sometimes have the biggest impact in real-world clinical practice.

Excellent work from Sandy Lu (Registered Nurse) during our recent ®️ training course in , 🇦🇺 👏🏼

In this video, Sandy expertly uses the Rai Angled Curette to remove artificial ear wax using the WAXscope®️.

What made this particularly impressive was her performance in the right ear, which was intentionally more challenging due to the narrow anatomy.

Initially, we examined the ear using a Size 1 specula (our smaller option). However, I wanted to challenge Sandy and asked her to perform the procedure using the Size 2 specula instead.

Why?

Because when used with the correct insertion technique, a larger specula can provide a wider field of view, which becomes particularly beneficial when using manual instruments such as curettes.

Although it can feel less intuitive at first in narrower ears, developing confidence with different specula sizes is an important part of advancing technique and improving instrument control.

Sandy adapted brilliantly and demonstrated exactly how the combination of good technique, magnification, and visualisation can make even more challenging cases feel controlled and predictable.
