“Post-dates pregnancy” and routine induction of labour… creating fear at the end of pregnancy… my rant!

* “post-dates pregnancy” is a term used for a pregnancy that has continued beyond the due (guess) date.
* “prolonged pregnancy” the term used for a pregnancy that has continued beyond 42 weeks.

Discharge appointments are always bittersweet. I genuinely get attached to my clients and it feels really strange when care comes to an end… but it’s never goodbye… and I love staying in touch with clients and getting updates of how everyone is doing.

Was so lovely to be invited to the party… where my little one spent most of the time face down in the ball pit… pretty standard behaviour for him! 😆

I love the relationships I build with my clients. It is so much more than “just appointments” 🥰

Just a little reminder this Christmas…

The most famous birth story of all time?
It was calm.
It was supported.
It ended happily.

A woman laboured.
A baby was born.
Everyone was safe.

No drama for drama’s sake.
No cliff-hanger ending.
Just a family, a newborn, and a moment the world still celebrates.

Sometimes we forget that birth stories don’t have to be frightening to be powerful.
This one is told every year — and it’s a story of trust, support, and a good ending.

Another great appointment with a client today… AND today was homebirth kit drop off day 🥳🫶🏻

Although I am not very active on social media (my preference as I really try to limit my screen time and mindless scrolling! 😵‍💫), things are always going on at Midwife Amy. I much prefer in person interaction and getting involved with the local community.

I also found this perfect print for labour support at a local shop , so had to include it in the birth goodie bag.

Currently enjoying this gorgeous scented candle gifted to me by my client for the festive season ☺️

Yesterday morning, not only did I have a delicious latte and slice of banana bread at , but I was joined by these beautiful humans 🥰

Thank you so much for showing up. It was such a great start to the week to talk all things perinatal services. So much of life is online now, so it really makes a huge difference to meet the faces behind the businesses and get to know them and form relationships… exactly what I love about the way I work with families.
It’s all about building meaningful relationships… and communities 🥰
