☀️ Your SPF Foundation Isn’t Giving You SPF 30 Protection ☀️

One of the biggest misconceptions in skincare is that SPF in foundation, BB cream, tinted moisturiser, or setting powder provides the same protection as a dedicated sunscreen.

It doesn’t.

SPF ratings are tested using a specific amount of product. To achieve the SPF on the label, you’d need to apply around half a teaspoon to your face alone. Most people apply only a fraction of this amount when using makeup.

The result? An SPF 30 foundation may only provide protection closer to SPF 4–6 in real-world use.

This becomes even more important after treatments such as RF microneedling, chemical peels, IPL, and laser procedures, where UV protection is critical to support healing and reduce the risk of pigmentation.

✔️ Apply a dedicated broad-spectrum SPF 30+ or SPF 50 daily.

✔️ Apply it before your makeup.

✔️ Think of SPF-containing makeup as an added bonus, not your primary sun protection.

Your future skin will thank you for it.

✨ PMU Brows vs Microblading: What’s the Difference? ✨

Many people use the terms interchangeably, but Permanent Makeup (PMU) Brows and Microblading are actually very different treatments.

🔹 Microblading

Microblading uses a handheld blade made up of multiple tiny needles to create hair-like cuts in the skin. Pigment is then implanted into these cuts to mimic natural brow hairs.

Pros:
✔ Natural hair-stroke appearance initially
✔ Suitable for some skin types

Potential drawbacks:
⚠ Can blur over time as pigment spreads
⚠ Often fades unevenly
⚠ Not ideal for oily or mature skin
⚠ Repeated treatments may increase the risk of scar tissue formation
⚠ Scar tissue can affect future colour retention and results

🔹 PMU Brows

Modern PMU uses a digital machine to implant pigment into the skin with far more control and precision than a manual blade.

Techniques include:
✔ Soft powder brows
✔ Ombre brows
✔ Nano brows
✔ Combination brows

Benefits:
✔ Suitable for most skin types
✔ Less trauma to the skin
✔ Better pigment retention
✔ Softer healing
✔ More predictable long-term results
✔ Lower risk of scarring when performed correctly

💡 The Science

Microblading relies on creating tiny incisions in the skin. While most clients heal without problems, repeated treatments over the same area can contribute to skin trauma and scar tissue formation in some individuals.

Modern machine PMU techniques are generally considered less traumatic because the pigment is implanted using a controlled needle movement rather than a slicing action.

Which is right for you?

For clients wanting long-lasting, soft, natural-looking brows with greater suitability across different skin types, machine PMU techniques have largely become the preferred option in the industry.

Beautiful brows shouldn’t just look good when they’re fresh — they should continue to age gracefully over time. ✨

☀️ PMU Brows: The Ultimate Summer Holiday Essential ☀️

Heading off on holiday? Imagine waking up every morning with perfect brows already in place.

✨ Smudge-proof in the heat
✨ Sweat-resistant for sightseeing and activities
✨ Pool and beach friendly
✨ No daily brow makeup needed
✨ Perfect for early flights and lazy holiday mornings
✨ Natural definition in every holiday photo
✨ More suitcase space, less makeup to pack

Whether you’re swimming, sunbathing, exploring, or enjoying evenings out, your brows stay looking polished from sunrise to sunset. Permanent makeup is particularly popular for active lifestyles because it won’t wash off in the pool or fade during hot weather.

Spend less time drawing your brows and more time enjoying your holiday. ✈️🌴☀️

✨ RF Facials: More Than Just a Facial ✨

If you’re looking for a treatment that helps improve skin quality without injectables, RF (Radiofrequency) Facials are worth considering.

RF technology delivers controlled heat into the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production while helping to tighten and firm the skin over time.

Benefits may include:

✔ Improved skin firmness and elasticity
✔ Smoother skin texture
✔ Reduced appearance of fine lines
✔ Enhanced collagen production
✔ Brighter, more refreshed-looking skin
✔ No needles and minimal downtime

Unlike traditional facials that work mainly on the skin’s surface, RF treatments target deeper tissues where collagen is produced, helping support long-term skin rejuvenation.

Healthy, youthful skin isn’t about changing how you look—it’s about supporting your skin’s natural ability to repair, renew and maintain itself. ✨

✨ Microneedling vs RF Microneedling – What’s the Difference? ✨

Many people assume they’re the same treatment… they’re not.

🔹 Microneedling
Uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production naturally.

Great for:
✔ Fine lines
✔ Enlarged pores
✔ Mild acne scarring
✔ Skin texture
✔ Overall skin rejuvenation

🔹 RF Microneedling
Combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy delivered into the deeper layers of the skin.

Great for:
✔ Skin tightening
✔ Wrinkles
✔ Moderate acne scarring
✔ Crepey skin
✔ Jawline and neck rejuvenation

💡 Think of it this way:

Microneedling improves the skin’s surface.
RF Microneedling improves the skin’s surface AND deeper structural support.

Neither treatment is “better” than the other — the right choice depends on your skin concerns, goals, and budget.

The best treatment is always the one tailored to your skin, not the latest trend. 🧬✨

☀️ Why SPF Matters More Than You Think ☀️

Most people only think about sunscreen when it’s hot and sunny… but UV damage happens every single day.

🔸 UVA rays pe*****te deep into the skin, damaging collagen and elastin. They’re responsible for premature ageing, wrinkles, loss of firmness, and pigmentation.

🔸 UVB rays affect the outer layers of the skin and are the main cause of sunburn. They also contribute to DNA damage and increase skin cancer risk.

🔸 UVC rays are the most harmful, but thankfully they’re absorbed by the ozone layer and don’t normally reach the Earth’s surface.

The reality is that up to 80% of visible facial ageing is linked to UV exposure, not just the natural ageing process.

✨ Daily SPF helps:
✔ Reduce premature ageing
✔ Prevent pigmentation and sunspots
✔ Protect collagen and elastin
✔ Support results from skincare and aesthetic treatments
✔ Lower the risk of skin cancer

And remember: SPF isn’t just for holidays. If there’s daylight, your skin is being exposed to UV radiation.

The best anti-ageing product you’ll ever buy isn’t a serum or a treatment… it’s the SPF you wear every day. 🧴☀️

🧬 PDRN (“Salmon DNA”) Skincare: Innovation or Hype?

PDRN is one of the latest ingredients making waves in skincare. Derived from purified salmon DNA fragments, it’s being promoted for skin repair, hydration, barrier support, and rejuvenation.

The science is interesting, particularly around tissue healing, but most strong evidence comes from medical and injectable applications rather than topical skincare.

For concerns like acne, pigmentation, and texture, proven ingredients such as retinoids, azelaic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C, and salicylic acid still have the strongest evidence base.

My take? PDRN looks promising as a supportive skin-repair ingredient, but it’s not a miracle cure or replacement for established actives.

💭 Are we entering the era of regenerative skincare, or is PDRN simply the latest skincare trend?

One of the most common skincare mistakes? Applying hyaluronic acid to completely dry skin.

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning it holds onto water — it does not create water.

Applied correctly, it can support surface hydration.
Applied incorrectly, especially on dry skin in a low-humidity environment, it may pull moisture toward the surface where it can evaporate, leaving the skin feeling tighter and drier.

Correct application:

Cleanse
Apply HA serum to damp skin
Seal immediately with a moisturiser containing ingredients such as ceramides, squalane, shea butter or petrolatum-based occlusives.

Topical HA works mainly at the surface.

Injectable HA treatments such as Skinvive by Juvéderm are different. They place HA microdroplets into the dermis, helping improve hydration, smoothness and overall skin quality from within.

Same ingredient family. Completely different mechanism.
