Today I felt completely overstimulated.

The noise. The questions. The touching. It was a lot, and my head felt too full.

If you've ever felt like this too, you're not a bad mum.

You're human 🩷

I thought the problem was breastfeeding.

Looking back now, I can see it was also the guilt, pressure and shame that came with it.

My feeding struggles played a huge part in the start of my postnatal depression.

If you've ever felt like you were failing because feeding wasn't going to plan, you're not alone.

Comment BOX and I'll send you the waiting list for Mummy's Mind Box, so you can see how I can help you with your postnatal mental health 🩷

I genuinely thought my baby hated me.

Looking back now, I can see how much postnatal depression was twisting the way I saw myself as a mum.

If you've ever felt like you're getting motherhood wrong, you're not alone.

Bedtime became the highlight of my day.

When I was struggling with postnatal depression, I'd spend so much of the day clock watching, counting down to it.

Not because I didn't love my children.

Because I was exhausted.

Mentally. Emotionally. Physically.

And then when bedtime finally came, the guilt would hit.

I thought good mums were supposed to enjoy every moment.

Looking back now, I can see I wasn't failing.

I was overwhelmed.

Did anyone else secretly count down to bedtime too? 😴

I wish she knew they would see her as their hero one day...

Looking back at this version of me with all the sadness and pain she was in, I wish I could hold her and tell her it would all be OK. That she would make it through and become a stronger woman and mother.

In the space of a week recently, both my children called me their hero. I can't put into words how much that means to me! There was a time when I thought they would be better off without me, and I couldn't see what good I was bringing to their lives. But now I see that I am their warmth, their comfort, their safe space, and their home.

If you're in a dark place at the moment, please know that you will come out of it. You're stronger than you know, with so much love to give and receive. Be kind to yourself. You are someone's hero ❤️

In the meantime, if you feel like you need someone to talk to or an ear to listen instead of speak, please reach out and message me x

Does anyone else feel so much pressure to plan days out during the holidays? I feel like I need to make sure the kids have great childhood memories, which is so much pressure!

I tried to take my two out to different places this half term, but things didn't go quite how I imagined them to go.

But do you know what? The smiles on their faces at the end of each day, and how they spoke about their favourite bits of the day showed me that they had fun anyway. They didn't need the 'perfect' day out (which I doubt even exists), they just played their own way and created their own memories.

So I just wanted to share what I've learnt over the last week. If things don't go to plan and you feel like you've failed in some way or let your child down, just know that they don't care about the details. As long as you're there with them, laughing with them and being in the moment, they're happy ❤️
