How to do diaphragmatic breathing...
•Place one hand on the chest area. This will indicate how much your chest is rising.
•Place the other hand on the belly. This will indicate how much you are filling the belly with breath.
•Now take in through the nose a deep, slow breath. Filling the belly as much as you can, with as little lift in the chest as possible.
•Hold the in breath for a count of 4.
•Slowly exhale through the mouth.
• Keep repeating this for as long as you want.
•You will notice possibly immediately or with practice how your body, is becoming more relaxed, how mental thinking slows down. Shoulders drop. Tensions ease. The body becomes in a state of ease.
•Practising this throughout the day or, just before bed is good, to create a state of calm.
•This is a beneficial practice and with practice your body will revert back to doing this naturally.
Stress creates tension in the body this is why we feel up tight physically and mentally.
