~ Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a holistic medical system that originated in India thousands of years ago; It is the sister science to yoga and treats the mind, body and soul. It has helped me immensely, so I am keen to share it with others. Integrating Ayurveda into your daily life can have a profound effect on your overall health and wellbeing and it can bring a sense of balance and harmony to the body

. Ayurveda can help prevent, as well as manage a range of conditions such as:
• Skin conditions
• Fatigue
• Stress
• Anxiety
• Joint problems
• Women and Men’s health
• Digestive problems

I did a year's training at the Ayurvedic Institute in London where I received my level 1 diploma under Dr Deepika Rodrigo who has had over 25 years experience as an Ayurvedic doctor.

~ Champissage (Indian Head Massage)

Indian Head Massage has it's roots in Ayurveda and has been carried out for thousands of years. The benefits have been well documented. We live in a fast-paced world now and we all know the accumulative effect that stress can have on our bodies. With stress levels on the rise these days, Indian Head Massage gives the body the opportunity to slow down and to have a much needed break out of the day to unwind. Some of the benefits from Indian Head Massage include:
• Relaxation of muscles
• Removal of toxins
• Relief from neck and shoulder stiffness
• Improved circulation of blood
• Relief from tension headaches, eye strain, earache, tinnitus, jaw ache, sinus problems, insomnia and disturbed sleep
• Relaxation of whole body
• A sense of calmness
• A release of anxiety
• Alertness and concentration
• Help in dissipating mental tiredness, edginess, depression and stress

The massage is performed whilst the client is seated and there is no need to remove any clothing. It takes between 35-45 minutes and the areas focused on are the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, head and the acupressure points in the face. Qualified with a diploma from the Champissage Centre in London under Alison Inglis.

Welcome Autumn

The season of slowing down,
turning inward
and grounding.

Darkness is drawing in,
nature is beginning to slow and
there is a change in the air.

Slow evenings,
Candles lit,
Cosy blankets,
Warm drinks

Eat with the season:
Hearty stews and warm soups
Root vegetables
Avoid raw foods
Warming spices (cinnamon, clove, nutmeg)

To ground the body:
Gentle morning movement,
Cool morning walks amongst fallen leaves,
Sitting in nature and noticing the sounds & smells.

Autumn is a good reminder that change and letting go is part of the cycle.
Trees don’t resist the fall of leaves, so perhaps we don’t need to resist when things in life need to fall away.

Autumn is just around the corner. Can you feel the change in the air? The leaves are starting to change colour and fall...

Autumn is just around the corner. Can you feel the change in the air?

The leaves are starting to change colour and fall, and darkness is starting to creep in again 🍂.

I used to struggle with this time of year. I would feel a sense of unease, a bit restless and a resistance to it, but now I find it quite comforting and enjoy the shift of energy. There is something lovely about slowing down and easing into the season.

In Āyurveda, Autumn is Vata season. The air and ether elements are predominant and the qualities around us are dry, subtle, cold and mobile and light which can increase these qualities within us too.

Autumn can be lovely reminder to stay grounded, slow down, keep cosy and create more routine in our lives.

What does Autumn bring up for you?
