At The Sadie Centre, we deliberately keep our Pilates classes small, allowing our highly trained teachers to give you the individual attention and guidance you deserve.

And one of the reasons we’re particularly proud of our Pilates programme is one of our expert teachers, Sherryl Chatfield.

Why choose Pilates at The Sadie Centre?

• Small class sizes
• Individual attention and guidance
• Highly trained, experienced teachers
• A focus on safe, effective movement
• Professional expertise you can trust
• A friendly, calm environment where you can progress at your own pace

Whether you’re new to Pilates or have been practising for years, our aim is to provide quality teaching in a supportive setting, rather than simply putting you through a routine.

Because Pilates isn’t just about doing the exercises. It’s about understanding how your body moves and getting the right guidance to help you move well.

Play therapy may help many children with a wide variety of needs and issues, for example those who have experienced trauma, anxiety, family break-ups, behaviour challenges, bullying or low self-esteem, giving them a voice and a way of communicating their needs and feelings.

As the sessions are child-led, they help the child to feel in control and relaxed. The therapist is there to hold the space and reflect back to the child what they are saying and doing in order to help them understand their own process.

As the processing is done through their play, there is no pressure on them to talk or put their feelings or experiences into words. This makes it accessible to all children, regardless of their communication needs and whether they are ready to verbalise what they have experienced.

These beautiful cards have been handmade by Rosie, one of our Growing People gardeners. The monoprint is unique, made using a Gelli plate.

Rosie says, “Coming to Growing People has given me the confidence to try new things and be creative”.

Growing People is our therapeutic gardening project, based in the grounds at The Sadie Centre. We support adults in Hertfordshire living with a wide range of mental health needs – from mild to more complex conditions - though gardening, social connection and time spent in nature.

The cards are for sale in reception for £3.50 each, the perfect gift!

"When someone comes into my therapy room, they often have some idea of why they're there. Sometimes they can name it clearly; sometimes they just know that the ways they've always coped no longer seem to work....

Art Therapy offers different ways to express thoughts, feelings and memories that are difficult to put into words. No artistic skill is needed, and art therapy is valuable for both adults and children. People use art therapy in many different ways. Some might choose sand, while others might choose music, paint or collage to help express themselves. What feels helpful can change over time, and for some people, deciding whether or not to use art materials becomes part of the therapy itself.

Art therapy looks different for everyone because each person's experience is unique. At its heart, it is about meeting people where they are and helping them find new paths to understand themselves, communicate what matters, and discover that change is possible." - Cass Thomas, Art Therapist

A space to express yourself through music...

Our new 1:1 Music Therapy sessions offer a creative, supportive space to explore thoughts, feelings and self-expression through music.

Sessions are client-led and can include song writing, singing, improvisation, drumming, percussion and recording. Whether you're creating lyrics, finding a rhythm or experimenting with sounds, music can provide a gentle way to explore emotions, build confidence and support relaxation.

No musical background or previous experience is needed - just come as you are. Sessions run for 1 hour between 12-4pm on Sundays from September.

There’s something special about those little moments of connection.

Our Baby Massage classes offer a gentle way to bond with your baby, learn soothing massage techniques and meet other new parents in a relaxed, welcoming space.

Each session also provides a welcoming space to talk about common experiences of early parenthood, including baby sleep, feeding and settling. Parents can share experiences, ask questions and receive practical guidance and emotional support in a supportive environment - because those early days can feel like a lot to navigate alone.

Just bring yourself and your baby – everything else is provided.
