🌻 Our Wildflower and Remembrance Afternoon is taking place this Sunday 28th June from 2pm. This special event offers a peaceful afternoon in our gardens for people to gather in memory of their loved ones.

Our service will be led by Nadine from our Emotional and Psychological Support Service, and consist of readings and poems with time to pause for a moment of reflection. We also invite you to join us for refreshments afterward and wander the gardens, taking in its vibrant colours and hues of green.

The names of those no longer with us will also be printed on a display board for you to see at the service. If you dedicate a wildflower in memory of someone special before midnight tonight, their name will be included.

To make your dedication and book to attend the event, visit www.ghhospicecare.org.uk/book/wildflowers 🌼

Please note: We kindly ask for a minimum donation of Β£5 per flower and to help us cover the cost of the event, a Β£5 charge will be added per adult to secure each place.

For those celebrating with their fathers. For fathers making precious memories with their children. For those who are grieving a dad they miss every day. For those facing Father's Day after loss. For dads living with an illness or undergoing treatment. For stepfathers, grandfathers, father figures, and all who offer love and guidance.

πŸ’™ Whatever Father's Day means to you, we’re thinking of everyone in our community today.

As we look ahead to The Wildflowers, our special remembrance event on Sunday 28th June, we are reminded that love continues long after loss, and that those we hold in our hearts remain part of our story.

πŸ”—Please head to www.ghhospicecare.org.uk/the-wildflowers to dedicate a wildflower and to book your place at our Remembrance Afternoon.

All the very best to the five-man team of locals at Saturday's Red Bull Soap Box Derby at Alexandra Palace. We'll be cheering you on!

We have a team representing us and Garden House Hospice Care in this years Redbull Soap Box Derby on Saturday at the Ally Pally . .

After raising Β£1,500 for local schools during their debut appearance at the Hitchin event in 2025, the five-man team – Tark A, Rob C, Matt E, Andy J and James L – have secured a place in the national competition and are hoping to raise even more money for charity.

The group, competing under the name Team Crackers, will be hurtling down the course inside a giant football-themed soapbox to celebrate this summer's FIFA World Cup.

Let’s wish them all the best and hope they bring the trophy to Hitchin . . Thank you so much to the lads for the efforts and look out for them in videos on YouTube ect after the event they all have our No Place Like home tees . . 🧑

After retiring, Veronica wanted to give back to a cause close to her heart and joined our volunteer team, supporting both our fundraising department and Depot store. Using her administration and computer skills, she helps behind the scenes to ensure our fundraising activities and retail operations run smoothly.

For Veronica, volunteering is about more than giving her time. She values the camaraderie, friendships and sense of achievement that come from being part of the Hospice community, while helping to ensure hospice care remains available for future generations of local families.

Her dedication and support make a real difference to our work every day.

πŸ’™ Thank you, Veronica, for everything you do.

πŸ”— If you'd like to make a difference through volunteering, we'd love to hear from you. Find out more about our volunteer opportunities and how you can get involved: www.ghhospicecare.org.uk/volunteer

As draws to a close this weekend, huge thanks to BBC Three Counties Radio and Andy Collins for helping us spotlight this important national awareness week.

Earlier today, Alison, a valued volunteer in the Quality & Governance team, and Aaron from our Marketing team joined Andy to discuss the vital role volunteers play across our Hospice. We have a loyal team of over 800 volunteers who support us across the whole organisation – these are local people who give their time, skills and compassion to support patients, families, and the hospice community every day.

We are delighted to share our annual review with you, celebrating the work of Garden House Hospice Care and the people behind it.

Although the past year brought considerable challenges, one thing never changed: we kept our doors open and remained here for patients and families when they needed us most. This year alone, we have:

✨ Supported 4,755 patients
✨ Made 5,995 home visits
✨ Cared for 3,585 people through our Enhanced Nursing Care Home team
✨ Delivered 2,502 activities through our Rehab and Wellbeing team
✨ Comforted 423 patients through our Emotional and Psychological Support Service.

Our Hospice remains a welcoming and positive place, filled with warmth, humanity, and love. We hope you enjoy reading the articles and stories in this report - a reminder that while none of us truly knows what tomorrow may bring, we can be certain that at Garden House, tomorrow will always be filled with love and peace, and that we will continue to be here for patients and families through every moment.
