This Saturday is World Mental Health Day. 💬

When we wrote our Wellbeing Policy, we did not guess what our teams needed. We asked them.

Mental Health First Aiders came out on top. So that is what we did.

Nine colleagues are now trained to Level 3, offering support in the moment, right across the organisation. 🤝 Bereavement, family stress, anxiety, pressure at work. Whatever someone is carrying, there is a colleague close by who is trained to listen.

Care work asks a lot of people. Looking after the people who look after others is not an extra, it is the job. 💙

Staff said it. We did it. That is what having a voice looks like.

Back to doing things for themselves. 🌷

Most care is about support that keeps going. Our Specialist Care at Home service is different. It is designed to work itself out of a job.

After a fall, an illness or a spell in hospital, our teams work alongside someone to rebuild the confidence and the everyday things they could do before. Making a cup of tea. Managing the stairs. Getting out into the garden again. 🌞

Last year, 176 people finished with us needing no ongoing care at all.

No visits. No rota. Just their own life, back in their own hands. ✨

Care at home protects all of that. Familiar surroundings. Support shaped around one person rather than a routine. Comfort, dignity and a day that still feels like theirs. And care that flexes when life does. 🧡

Our first ever annual picnic. 🧺☀️

Blankets down, gazebo up, games out, and a very good turnout of four-legged guests. 🐶

It was lovely to get everyone together away from rotas and schedules: colleagues, partners, children and dogs all in one field on a sunny afternoon. A proper way to close out the summer as a team. 💙

Thank you to everyone who came along, and to everyone who helped pull it together. We are already looking forward to next year's. 🧡
