🌊 Volunteers Needed – Help Young People Thrive Through Surfing! 🌊

Hi everyone! My name is Davide, and I’ve been a surf enthusiast and coach for the past 15 years. Three years ago, I joined The Wave Project Dunbar because I believe in making a real difference in our local community.

With the help of an amazing team of volunteers, I run our Surf Club, a safe, fun, and inclusive space for young people and children.
After completing our 6-week Surf Therapy program, participants can continue attending Surf Club right up until the age of 21.

Surf Club is where we see the long-lasting impact of surf therapy. It’s where we watch caterpillars turn into butterflies, growing in confidence, spreading their wings, and fly. πŸ¦‹

We run sessions every week at Belhaven, on both weekdays and weekends, throughout the year. Most sessions take place in the water, with some indoor activities during the winter months.

Right now, we’re looking for more volunteers to join our team. Volunteering is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills, and become part of a supportive community while helping young people reach their full potential.

You do not need any surfing experience. We provide all the training, support, and equipment you need to get involved and get in the water.

Getting outside and moving your body isn't just for the sunny days! Although they are fab! πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜ƒ

Fresh air, a change of scenery, and a gentle walk can do wonders for both physical and mental wellbeing...🫢

We often wait for the "perfect" conditions to exercise, but consistency beats perfection every time. Whether it's a quick walk around the block, a stroll through the park, or getting muddy with your four-legged friend, every bit of movement counts...πŸ’ͺπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Having 3 dogs is honestly one of the best things for me...🐢🐢🐢

They fill my heart with so much love, and now that the kids have grown up, they fill my empty nest too. They give me purpose, companionship, and plenty of reasons to smile every day...πŸ€—πŸ‘Œ

One thing I especially love is that they get me out into nature and keep me moving. Something that's so good for both body and mind...πŸ€—πŸΆπŸ€—

Getting out in nature can:

After all my gallivants abroad last year, this year's holiday budget has been invested in something I can enjoy with my dogs instead. Long nature walks for them and peaceful rest for me in one of my favourite happy places...🌳🌳🌳

And if I'm honest, it's a lot less stressful than airport delays! πŸ€—πŸ™„πŸ›©πŸŒ

Sometimes the best adventures aren't the ones that take us far away β€” they're the ones that bring us closer to what matters most. πŸΎπŸ’š
