Sussex charity educating and caring for children and young people with complex physical disabilities and health needs aged 3-25.

The charity encompasses Chailey Heritage School, Chailey Heritage Residential, Chailey Heritage Futures and Chailey Heritage Pathways. The School is a non-maintained special school where pupils are given every opportunity to make progress towards fulfilment. Chailey Heritage Residential offers flexible care packages up to 52 weeks a year. Chailey Heritage Futures, our transition provision for 19-25 year olds, is where young disabled adults are helped to develop life skills in preparation for adulthood, both in our purpose-built accommodation and via sessions at Futures Life Skills Centre, a state-of-the-art leisure and life-skills facility which is also open to people with disabilities in the wider community.

Not only do we participate in running challenges, but we also have some very unique and bucket list challenges!

Earlier this year, one of our amazing supporters took on the Kilimanjaro Challenge, and we were there every step of the way with fundraising support and guidance.

Next November, you could join our Sahara Desert Trek. This incredible 7-day adventure takes you through Morocco's breathtaking desert landscapes, alongside Berber guides and camels, with nights spent under stunning star-filled skies.

The best part? You're not limited to the challenges we promote. Whether you've always dreamed of climbing a mountain, trekking through a desert or taking on another bucket-list adventure, we'd love to support you in fundraising challenges!

Adaptive gaming opens up new opportunities 🎮

Gaming helps children and young people do more than play. Using accessible controllers and switches, young people who can't use a standard Xbox controller can take control of games independently.

Adaptive gaming helps young people understand cause and effect, with simple actions like pressing a switch to make a car move forwards or backwards. It also encourages movement and independence in a fun, motivating way. For Brooklyn, racing games are a firm favourite, giving him control, confidence and plenty of opportunities for fun along the way

AAC Awareness Month: Charlotte's Story 💬

At 15 years old, Charlotte is showing just how life-changing communication can be.

Charlotte has complex physical disabilities and relies on AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) to communicate with those around her.

Using her VOCA (Voice Output Communication Aid), Charlotte can independently order her lunch, write creative stories and keep in touch with friends and family. She even sends WhatsApp messages to her mum.

For Charlotte, AAC is more than a device. It's a way to share her thoughts, make choices and let her personality shine.

Bungalow Residents Hit the Lanes 🎳

We're excited to launch a brand-new event as part of our concert series this year.

For the first time, we're switching things up and bringing multiple live bands together for an evening of live music on Brighton's seafront.

October is AAC Awareness Month 💬

Every child and young person deserves the opportunity to communicate, connect and be heard.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) supports children and young people to express their thoughts, make choices, build relationships and take part in everyday life.

This year's theme, "AAC in Everyday Life: Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond", celebrates the many ways AAC helps people communicate at home, in education and throughout their communities.

This weekend, Rob is taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon to support us at Chailey Heritage Foundation!
