Boultham Park Medical Practice

Boultham Park Medical Practice GP Practice Patients who visit a GP for a musculoskeletal (MSK) problem will instead have an appointment with an FCP physiotherapist.

The doctors and staff at Boultham Park Medical Practice are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare; this was recognised back in 2011 when the surgery was awarded the Quality Practice Award by the Royal College of Practitioners. The quality of the service we provide was further confirmed following an Inspection by the Care Quality Commission in May 2016 when we were grade

d good overall and in each individual area of the inspection. We provide a wide range of Primary Care service, typical of what you should expect from all GP surgeries, and run many clinics for the management of Chronic Diseases such as Asthma, COPD and Diabetes. We have other local services such as the Midwife and a Mental Health Practitioner working out of the surgery and we work closely with our health colleagues across the city. We also have a First Contact Practitioner (FCP) who is a physiotherapist professionally qualified to treat patients without a referral from a GP or other healthcare professional. Primary Care Networks have recently been introduced to help primary care providers to work more collaboratively and at scale. We are part of the Apex Primary Care Network which consists of 5 local GP Practices with a collective patient list size of approximately 52000 patients. We are also part of the Optimus Group of GP practices. These are other GP surgeries in our locality with whom we work closely across a number of areas; in particular in offering improved access for appointments outside of our normal core hours. Boultham Park Medical Practice is also a Training Practice. This involves training the doctors and nurses who have chosen to specialise in primary care and who we all will need to look after us in the future!

Buses will stop at Lincoln Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) on a new, dedicated route as part of a two-month trial to help improve access to the NHS facility via public transport.

From Monday 1 June 2026, buses will operate every 30 minutes between Lincoln Central Bus Station and Lincoln CDC, via St Marks Street, from 8.45am to 3.15pm, Monday to Friday.

A temporary bus stop will be in place on Poplar Avenue, near to the CDC, meaning pedestrians will only have a short walk through to the building.

The two-month trial will also include use of an electric bus for two weeks during July, which will be the first electric bus to be used on public routes in the city.

Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group Chief Executive, Professor Karen Dunderdale, said: “Lincoln Community Diagnostic Centre supports up to 60,000 patients each year and we’re doing everything that we can to make it as accessible as possible for everyone.

“While dedicated, free car parking remains available on site, we recognise that not everyone has the privilege and access to their own vehicles. Discussions relating to public transport links have been taking place since before the facility opened and we’ve also been supported by patient feedback, which has described the challenges of the nearest bus stop being approximately half a mile away for those with limited mobility or who are unwell.

“This two-month trial allows opportunity to explore if this additional bus service would be viable longer-term, while offering a more sustainable and convenient public transport route to our services.”

A CDC provides a broad range of diagnostic services, such as X-rays, blood tests and CT and MRI scans, as part of a patient’s ongoing planned care, away from main acute hospitals. This helps to give easier and quicker access to tests.

The buses on the dedicated ‘Medilinc’ ML1 service will be operated by PC Coaches of Lincoln.

Important message for patients using inhalers

We are aware of recent media reports about asthma inhalers and want to reassure our patients.
Salbutamol inhalers have NOT been stopped and remain safe to use.

If you have been prescribed salbutamol (usually a blue inhaler), you should continue using it exactly as advised for the relief of asthma symptoms such as wheeze, tightness, or shortness of breath.

The recent reports relate to national safety advice encouraging better overall asthma control, particularly the regular use of preventer inhalers where prescribed. This does not mean salbutamol is unsafe or has been withdrawn.

What this means for you
Keep using your salbutamol inhaler for symptom relief
Continue any preventer inhaler you have been prescribed
If you are needing your salbutamol inhaler more frequently than usual, this may be a sign your asthma needs reviewing
If you are acutely short of breath or having a severe asthma attack, seek emergency medical help immediately.

Your safety is our priority, and we will contact patients directly if any individual medication changes are ever required.
