The real reason clinics run late is rarely what you think. Most days it is me taking an extra ten minutes so the person before you leaves genuinely happy, rather than walking out with that little niggle in the back of their mind. If something needs tweaking, checking, photographing properly, or just talking through one more time, I will do it. I would honestly rather be a bit behind and get it right than rush and have you feel uncertain. I know it can be annoying when you are juggling work, parking, and life in general, so thank you for your patience. The lovely upside is that when it is your turn, you get the same unhurried care too. A lot of my clients tell me this is exactly why they come back. If that sounds like your kind of clinic, send me a message and I will help you find an appointment that suits you.

I have spent seven years in aesthetics, and I have seen enough behind the curtain to get a bit twitchy about certain things. If the price feels too good to be true, your gut is probably doing you a favour. Same goes for being pressured to book today, or walking in and nobody takes a proper medical history. If no one asks what you actually want, or you are being offered treatments in a kitchen, a caravan, or the back of a salon, please pause. A safe clinic will be completely relaxed about telling you your practitioner’s qualifications, exactly what product they use, and what the plan is if something goes wrong. If those simple questions cause offence, you have your answer. I have had so many new clients come to me after a scary first experience elsewhere, and I would much rather you never have one in the first place. If you are booking your first treatment and want to run a clinic or a quote past me, send me a message and I will happily have a look.

Profhilo gets put in the same box as filler or a peel, and it really does not belong there. I explain it as a skin quality treatment that works by spreading through the tissue and nudging your collagen and elastin along, rather than sitting in one spot. Because of that, the changes tend to look like fresher, bouncier, better hydrated skin overall, instead of one specific line suddenly disappearing. It is one of those treatments where people often say, “I cannot put my finger on it, I just look better”, which is honestly my favourite kind of result. If you want a sharp tweak in a particular area, we would talk about other options. If you are more in the “my skin feels a bit tired lately” camp, this can be a lovely fit. I will always tell you plainly if I think it is worth your time and money. If this sounds like you, send me a message and I will help you figure out whether Profhilo is the right shout.

Things nobody warns you about before becoming an injector. A few home truths from my clinic brain.

I genuinely cannot switch off now. I will be in the supermarket, minding my own business, and suddenly I am clocking foreheads like it is a competitive sport. The other one is the mythical five minute appointment. I have never met her, and honestly I do not want to. Good injectable work needs proper time for a chat, a look at how you move, photos if we need them, and a plan that suits your face and your week. Most of my clients tell me they feel calmer once they realise they are allowed to ask every question they have. If you have been putting it off because you thought it would be a quick in and out, message me and I will talk you through what the real process looks like.

Let us talk about downtime, since nobody else will. It is the bit between the appointment and the photo, and it matters more than most people realise. Some treatments can mean bruising, swelling, or a face you would rather not take to a wedding, and anyone who tells you otherwise has clearly never been on the receiving end of the needle. Most of my patients are busy people with real diaries, so we plan around work, holidays, school runs, and the occasional big night out. If you have an event coming up, tell me the date and I will work backwards with you so we choose the right treatment and the right timing. Sometimes that means doing it earlier than you expected, sometimes it means picking a different option altogether. Ask about downtime before you book, not after. If you want help lining it up with your calendar, send me a message and tell me what you have coming up.

Things I have actually said out loud in clinic this week, and yes, these are direct quotes. Context available on request. Mostly. Please stop apologising for your face, I promise it is allowed to exist without an apology attached. Also, your nose has not grown, you have just been on Zoom too long and your front camera is a liar. Your sister is lovely, I am sure, but she is not a licensed authority on your cheekbones. Yes you can still laugh, laughing is allowed, I insist on it. And once, quietly, to a printer, I have dissolved things with more cooperation than you. If any of this sounds like you, pop me a message and we will have a proper chat, with less Zoom and ideally a better behaved printer.

Skin boosters are a slow burn, not a light switch.
I love them, but I have no reason to oversell them, so here is what you can actually expect.
Hydration based injectables work gradually, and for most people that means a course rather than a one and done appointment.
The glow tends to creep up over a few weeks, which is why I get a bit twitchy when someone promises glass skin by Friday.
My favourite feedback is never dramatic anyway.
It is things like, “my makeup sits better”, or “my mum asked if I had been on holiday”. Quiet wins, the good kind.
If you have been tempted by skin boosters but you are unsure whether you are the right candidate, message me and I will talk you through what a sensible plan would look like for your skin.

Training days in aesthetics are wildly unglamorous and very heavy on the caffeine. Everyone imagines ch*****ne and certificates, but it is mostly hours of practising on fruit and asking increasingly odd questions about anatomy. I have spent more time with oranges than any reasonable adult should, and they never quite forgive you for what you did to them. It is repetitive, slightly humbling, and exactly how it should be if you want safe, consistent results on real faces. The bit you do not see is the constant checking, rechecking, and making sure my hands do what my brain thinks they are doing. I still train regularly because techniques move on and I want you in the safest possible hands. If you have ever wondered what sits behind a treatment plan, message me and I will talk you through what I trained in and why I chose it for you.

Microneedling is genuinely less scary than your imagination is making it. Yes, it involves needles, but they are tiny and I use numbing cream first, so you are not white knuckling it in my chair. Most people describe it as scratchy rather than painful, and then spend the rest of the appointment telling me their life story while I get on with the work. You will leave a bit pink, like mild sunburn, and you might feel a little warm and tight for the rest of the day. A few days later your skin starts quietly cracking on with the repair work, and you do not feel that bit at all. If you are curious but nervous, that is exactly what consultations are for. Message me and ask every question you have, I have heard them all and I promise I will give you a straight answer.

Filler dissolving is a real treatment, but it is usually far less dramatic than the viral videos make it look. It is not a magic reset button, it is a considered, careful process that can take a bit of time and a sensible plan. Most of the issues people want to fix have built up slowly, so I treat them properly rather than rushing to “undo” everything in one go. And yes, I get asked a lot if we can just melt it all off by Saturday. Saturday is a day of the week, not a treatment plan. If you are worried about old filler, swelling, lumps, or you just do not like how things are sitting anymore, come and talk to me before you panic. A quick chat and a proper assessment usually makes it all feel much more manageable, so message me if this sounds like you.
