A genuine question for those working in, or using, wellbeing and holistic services…
Something I’ve been reflecting on recently.
The more training I’ve undertaken over the years, the more I’ve realised how much there is to learn.
If anything, it’s made me more aware of the responsibility that comes with supporting others.
At the same time, there seem to be more and more people offering services such as breathwork, sound healing, shamanic drumming, coaching, energy work and other wellbeing practices, often with hugely varying levels of training, accreditation and experience.
It got me wondering…
In regulated professions, qualifications, professional standards and ongoing development are generally expected. In many holistic and wellbeing spaces, things are often much less clear.
So, what matters most to you when choosing a practitioner?
• Formal training and qualifications?
• Accreditation and insurance?
• Personal recommendation?
• Years of experience?
• Their own lived experience?
• How you feel when you meet them?
Is lived experience enough?
Do credentials matter?
Or is there a balance between the two?
I’m not asking because I have the answer - I’m genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives from both practitioners and clients.
