Meet Roman. Eight years old, football fan, trampoline lover and living with epilepsy ⚽️

A year ago, Roman's family woke up to find him having a seizure in bed.

Within days, he was diagnosed with focal onset epilepsy after a tonic-clonic seizure. For his parents Gem and Paul, those first weeks were overwhelming, scary, and full of questions.

But as epilepsy entered their lives, Roman just kept going. And watching his energy, bravery and absolute refusal to slow down has made his family incredibly proud 💜

If you're a parent or carer navigating a new diagnosis, or simply looking for a story that reminds you what's possible, Roman's is one worth reading: https://ow.ly/qMHP50Z6cT7

A seizure at work changed Shahleen’s life overnight.

Since her first seizure at 22, Shahleen has faced many challenges in her epilepsy journey, from losing independence to waiting years for specialist support.

She also faced harmful stigma around epilepsy within her community, where misunderstandings about the condition made it harder for her and her family to find support and information.

But instead of staying silent, Shahleen chose to speak up.

By sharing her epilepsy story online, she’s helping other young people feel seen, understood, and encouraged to seek the support they deserve 💜

This is a powerful reminder of how important awareness, representation, and open conversations around epilepsy can be - especially for children and young people who may feel isolated or misunderstood.

We recently shared how to ask for exam support if your child is living with epilepsy.

But what actually happens once that support is in place? 💭

It’s one thing for your child to be told they’ll receive adjustments. It’s another to understand how it will actually support them in practice.

That’s why we spoke to an exams officer and a parent to explain how schools put exam access arrangements into action

If your child is sitting mock exams right now, this is the time to understand how that support works in real situations, and to make sure it’s right for them ahead of their final exams 💜
