I bought this dream catcher and said to my partner, “This is for my wellness space.”

We both laughed because there was no evidence it would be happening anytime soon.

After viewing so many places, I nearly gave up. Then I walked into this space and felt shivers from head to toe. I still didn’t know how it would happen...I just believed it would.

I’m all for ingredient awareness.

I believe we should understand what we’re putting on our skin and be mindful of ingredients that may not align with our health goals or values.

Somewhere along the way, we’ve started treating the word “chemical” as if it automatically means harmful.

The truth is, everything is made of chemicals—including water, plants and your skin.

What concerns me is the fear-based messaging that tells people an ingredient is “toxic” simply because it has a long scientific name or because an app has flagged it.

Skincare is far more nuanced than that.

The concentration, formulation, delivery system and the individual using the product all matter.

For those struggling with skin conditions, this can be especially confusing. Sometimes the ingredient you’ve been told to fear may actually be beneficial when formulated correctly and used appropriately.

Let’s choose education over fear.

Be curious. Ask questions. Learn about ingredients.
