That was me. For as long as I can remember 😔

For the last 18 years, since taking control of my own healing, I've been trying to find the best way I can support the community in finding their own path to wellness.

When Healing Stronger was proposed to me as a concept - a monthly session where our Bolton community can get together to feel listened to find that inspiration and connection and that feeling of really being supported in their journey to health - it was an instant yes from me.

After 10 years of running an in person Diabetes Health Support Bolton and 2 years of hosting Infinite Women sessions, volunteering at Christie hospital's Patterson Institute for Cancer Research and sharing sooo many resources for free online, you'd think I'd feel satisfied that I'd met my life purpose!?

Oh no! I'm always looking for ways that I can help others to heal for free (I believe it's our right to be physically, mentally, emotionally and socially healthy, no matter what the postcode/income lottery might try to dictate).

Something strange happens after 40…

You eat the same foods
exercise the same way
but your body responds differently.

I swear I woke up one morning and my body shape had changed!

It doesn't mean we've suddenly become lazy and it's definitely not a cue to give up.

It’s biology.

Oestrogen was quietly managing:
• insulin sensitivity

Impulsive permission feels good for five minutes.
Intentional permission feels good tomorrow.

We CAN make choices that make us feel good in the moment AND that our future self would be proud of. The kind of choices that help us keep moving towards health, instead of spiralling into self hatred.

The question isn’t: Do I want this now? Of course, part of you (usually the emotional part) genuinely does.

The question is: Will tomorrow’s me back this decision?

“Sod it" energy is just dysregulation with a story attached. We honestly believe that we are totally justified in eating crap or drinking alcohol in that moment.

When we say ‘I can’t be arsed,’ what we often mean is ‘I’m overwhelmed.’

My life used to be based on "What do I fancy?" rather than "What do I need ?" or "What will my future self thank me for?"

We might be able to get away with that when we're young, and have little stress, but everything changes over time and we cannot sustain this over time.
