👀 AM I A GOOD THERAPIST… OR JUST REALLY, REALLY NOSEY? 😂

One of the biggest parts of what I do in clinic isn’t just looking at where it hurts…

It’s LISTENING 👂 and OBSERVING 👀

So, if you come in with a sore knee, I’m not only interested in your knee!

I’m watching how you walk, how you stand, how you sit and how you move.

Because all of those little things can give me clues and help create a much better foundation for your treatment. 🧩

And then there’s the listening…

Please, always tell me about the little things, even if they seem completely insignificant.

💬 “I’ve been really irritable this week.”

That might give me a clue towards something like Liver Qi stagnation.

💬 “I’ve suddenly been drinking loads of warm drinks.”

That can sometimes point towards your body seeking warmth — for example, a cold pattern affecting the Stomach or weakness in Spleen & Stomach Yang.

Those little changes can be REALLY useful pieces of the puzzle. 🧩

And apparently… I don’t switch off when I leave the clinic either! 😂

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been sitting in the car, watching someone walk past and suddenly thought…

👀 “Ooh… they’ve got a neck restriction!”

That’s when my K.O.R.E. Therapy training kicks in!

A restriction around the neck and upper spine can influence how the body compensates further down, potentially affecting the way the lower back and pelvis move during walking.

So yes…

I observe.

I listen.

I notice things.

I probably overthink things. 😂

Which leaves me asking myself…

Am I actually a really good therapist…

OR JUST REALLY, REALLY NOSEY? 🤣

Either way, all those little observations help me build a bigger picture of YOU, rather than just treating the bit that hurts. ❤️

💜 HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE & TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE 💜

High blood pressure is incredibly common and can affect people of all ages. Often, you may not even know you have it, which is why regular blood pressure checks are so important.

If high blood pressure isn’t managed, it can increase the risk of serious health problems such as stroke and heart disease.

🌿 So where can Chinese Medicine fit in?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), high blood pressure may be viewed differently depending on an individual’s overall health, constitution and symptoms.

Acupuncture aims to support balance within the body and, from a TCM perspective, may focus on calming an overactive Liver, nourishing deficiencies and supporting healthy circulation.

💕 At Ashi Therapies, every treatment is tailored to you.

Acupuncture should not replace prescribed blood-pressure medication or medical care. If you have high blood pressure, please continue to work with your GP or healthcare professional.

If you’d like to explore how acupuncture may complement your existing wellbeing routine, get in touch with Ashi Therapies.

🌧️ RAIN & YOUR BODY — ACCORDING TO TCM 🌧️

Ever wondered why you can feel so different when the weather turns wet, cold and miserable?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, rain and damp weather are associated with an external pathogen called DAMP, particularly when combined with cold or wind.

🌧️ What can Damp do?

Damp is considered heavy, sluggish and difficult for the body to shift. TCM associates excess Damp with symptoms such as:

• Feeling heavy, tired or sluggish
• Aching or stiff joints and muscles
• Headaches or that “foggy” feeling
• Puffy or swollen sensations
• Digestive upset, bloating or loose stools
• Feeling particularly affected by cold, wet weather
• Increased susceptibility to feeling run down

When Cold + Damp + Wind combine, TCM believes they can make it harder for the body’s defensive Qi to protect us — potentially contributing to cold-like symptoms and feeling generally under the weather.

💜 HOW CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP?

From a TCM perspective, acupuncture can be used to support the body’s Qi, help regulate circulation and digestion, and address patterns associated with Damp and Cold.

It isn’t a treatment for infections, but it can be part of a wider approach to supporting your wellbeing when you’re feeling run down.

🐶 Happy International Dog Day 🐶

🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

🐾 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY! 🐾💜

Did you know that dogs can have acupuncture too? 🐶✨

Sadly, it’s not something we offer here at Ashi Therapies — acupuncture on animals can only be carried out by a qualified veterinary professional with appropriate acupuncture training.

But if I could treat your fur babies… I absolutely would! 🥰🐾

So however you spend International Dog Day, make it a lovely one with your four-legged best friend. Give them an extra cuddle, a walk, a treat or simply some quality time together. ❤️

They give us so much love, loyalty and happiness — they deserve all the fuss today! 🐕💕

And for any humans needing acupuncture… 😉

ACUPUNCTURE IS GETTING GLOBAL RECOGNITION 🌿

The World Health Organization and World Health Assembly are putting increasing focus on traditional, complementary and integrative medicine.

WHO’s current Global Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–2034 aims to strengthen the evidence base and support the safe and effective integration of these approaches into healthcare.

And acupuncture isn’t being overlooked — WHO specifically recognises research supporting its use for pain relief.

Traditional wisdom + modern research = an exciting future for acupuncture. 💜

At Ashi Therapies, I believe in providing safe, professional acupuncture alongside an individual, holistic approach to your wellbeing

🌹 ROSE TEA — A LITTLE CUP OF TCM SELF-CARE 🌹

Did you know rose tea has a special place in Traditional Chinese Medicine?

In TCM, Rose (Mei Gui Hua) is traditionally used to move Qi, soothe the Liver and support emotional balance — especially when you feel stressed, tense or “stuck”.

🌹 According to TCM, rose tea may support:

✨ Stress, tension & irritability
✨ Qi stagnation
✨ Stress-related digestive discomfort
✨ PMS & menstrual tension
✨ Feeling heavy, tight or emotionally stuck
✨ Relaxation and winding down

☕ HOW TO MAKE IT

Use food-grade dried rose petals or rosebuds.

🌹 1 teaspoon per cup
💧 Add freshly boiled water
⏰ Infuse for 5–10 minutes
🍯 Add a little honey if you like

How often?
1 cup a day is a lovely gentle wellness ritual. Rose tea is naturally caffeine-free when using pure rose petals/buds.

💗 TCM TIP:
Sometimes supporting your wellbeing isn’t about doing more. It can be as simple as slowing down, taking a breath and enjoying a warm cup of tea.

And if you’re feeling stressed, tense, experiencing digestive issues or hormonal changes, acupuncture can support your individual TCM pattern too. 🌸
