Seren is chopping off 8 years of hair and donating it to The Little Princess Trust… and she only gave us 36 hours’ notice 😳✂️ Yes, just after Christmas when no one has any spare cash, but any donation, big or small, would be amazing as would sharing her post! 💖 thank you in advance!! it’s a big milestone for her 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Seven years out from treatment, a day full of rainbows and a huge turning point 🌈🌈. Life is always busy, but a beautiful friend reminded me to stop and remember this moment today.

Earlier this year, we had some fantastic news. Seren’s kidney function, which had stubbornly sat at 54% for 6 years, has now shot up above 80%, something her nephrologist said wouldn’t happen. Her scans remain clear!

Seren is almost 5ft 6 at 13, embracing teenage life like a pro. Top set in maths and science, smashing her end-of-year exams with 95% in both, and loving history and French. She’s not into fashion or makeup, but is very committed to staying in bed, glued to technology, and maintaining a strict “no scissors near my hair” policy.

Life is exciting, calm, Seren is happy, healthy and thriving 🌈🌈🌈🌈

Truly blessed 🙏🏼🫶❤️

I’ve recently shown Seren this page. It’s was emotional sharing her story with her and telling her about the amazing support she had along the way and how many people got behind her and encouraged us and raised money for charities etc.

Seren isn’t keen on photographs of herself and likes to keep things very low key. But she’s asked me to update everyone on this group and tell you all she’s now 6 years cancer free and doing very well, enjoying life, high school and special friendships she’s made.

We’re always so thankful, grateful and proud of our girl.

Love to all 🎉💗🎉💗🎉💗🎉💗

And there we have it, 5 years off treatment and cancer free 🎉🎉 6 monthly abdominal scans will continue until Seren is an adult. We will update everyone if there is anything significant. Seren has a bright future ahead. Truly grateful. Onwards and upwards 🤩🤩🤩

We’ve had kind messages asking how Seren is getting on from people following her story. Sorry we haven’t updated Seren’s page for a while. Life has been busy and we can be guilty of burying our heads when everything is going well..

We’re so pleased to have good results from Seren’s abdominal scan and chest X-ray from Alder Hey today. Seren is almost 5 years off treatment for cancer, her remaining kidney has grown as large as a fully grown woman’s kidney and we’re hoping her kidney function has also improved inline with the super growth of her super nephrons!! Only time with tell, but her consultant is confident this will be the case.

Seren is 11 and a half now, excited to be starting high school in September and a very happy and well rounded young lady. She’s still growing her hair as you can see from todays photograph. I can’t believe this is less than 5 years of growth!! I think she’s going for some record 🥇🥇

Going forward, follow up surveillance scans of Seren’s abdomen will be 6 monthly. Seren will stop having chest X-rays because lung reoccurrence is extremely unlikely after this long out from treatment. Due to having nephroblastomatosis cells on her remaining kidney which can develop into new cancer she has to continue to be monitored. Seren also has after effects of treatment and also needs monitoring for these too.

We’re still absorbing this information ourselves and so happy to be able to share such fantastic results.

The future is very bright for Seren and we are so proud of her and beyond grateful for her continued good health 🎉💞💫

We are so sorry to read about the passing of Tom Parker to Cancer. Cancer does not discriminate and has no respect for its victims.

Tom offered to meet Seren when she was poorly but she wasn’t well on the day and Tom sent her a lovely message instead.

RIP 💗💗💗 Gone far too young

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is in September and Breast Cancer Awareness Month happens in October, we should recognize that both cancers are linked and that by improving the standard treatment of one, we could be improving on the other. One way to improve on the incidence of breast cancer would be to discover better, curative therapies other than chemotherapy and radiation to treat childhood cancers. Female childhood cancer survivors who were treated with chemotherapy— even if they did not receive radiation treatments to their chest — are six times more likely than the general population to be diagnosed with breast cancer later in life. For those who did receive chest radiation, that chance increases exponentially and is on par with those who have the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations.
