Customer Finance Officer – Appointeeship Service

Part‑time (20 hours per week over 3 consecutive days) | Knowsley | £26,520 pro rata

Do you want a finance role where your work genuinely improves someone’s daily life?

As a Customer Finance Officer in our Appointeeships Service, no two days are the same. You will manage the money and benefits of vulnerable adults who need support to stay financially safe and secure. You will act as their trusted appointee — making sure income is maximised, bills are paid on time, and spending is managed carefully and transparently whilst maintaining professional boundaries.

This is a hands‑on, operational role, communicating with customers over the phone and face to face with customers, their families, social care professionals and the DWP.

Key responsibilities

Manage a caseload of customers under DWP appointeeship
Set up and manage individual bank accounts
Pay rent, care fees, utilities and other essential bills
Complete benefit checks and make new claims where required
Complete and sign DWP forms and report changes in circumstances
Create and monitor simple, personalised budgets
Arrange day‑to‑day spending money, including pre‑paid cards
Liaise with families, care providers, social workers and other professionals
Carry out regular customer reviews
Maintain accurate records and protect confidentiality
What we’re looking for

Experience in financial administration, customer service or similar
Confident working with people, numbers, systems and multiple priorities
Understanding of the benefits system and social care,
Clear, respectful communication skills
A calm, organised approach and strong attention to detail
A genuine interest in supporting vulnerable people
Experience in appointeeship or benefits is helpful but not essential. Training is provided. A full driver’s licence and access to a car for work is preferred.

Do you want to make a positive difference to vulnerable people’s lives?
Are you understanding, empathetic and respectful to the needs of vulnerable people?
Are you able to work equally well collaboratively and autonomously?
Your role will ensure Appointeeships are managed with a person centred approach that promotes the independence of the individual.

The successful candidates will have a background in financial administration and have excellent IT and customer service skills being able to communicate information to people with differing communication needs. Experience working in a similar role would be ideal.

Closing date for cover letters and CV's is Friday 15 May. Interviews will be held face to face at KDC’s office in Huyton on Thursday 28 May 2026

Today might not look like productivity - and that’s okay.

Taking time to rest, pause, or do less can support your wellbeing more than pushing through.

You don’t need to earn rest, and you don’t need to justify slowing down. 💚

😄 Laughter doesn’t have to come from big moments to matter.
Sometimes it’s a small shared joke, a light conversation, or something that breaks the tension of the day.

These moments help us feel connected and remind us we’re not alone.
Even small pockets of joy can make a real difference. 💙

🌱 Hello May 🌱

A new month doesn’t need to mean pressure to reset everything overnight.
It can simply be a chance to move forward gently.

This month, we’re focusing on mental wellbeing, kindness, and connection - starting with how we treat ourselves. Small steps, slower days, and giving yourself space all count. 💚
