Customer Finance Officer – Appointeeship Service
Part‑time (20 hours per week over 3 consecutive days) | Knowsley | £26,520 pro rata
Do you want a finance role where your work genuinely improves someone’s daily life?
As a Customer Finance Officer in our Appointeeships Service, no two days are the same. You will manage the money and benefits of vulnerable adults who need support to stay financially safe and secure. You will act as their trusted appointee — making sure income is maximised, bills are paid on time, and spending is managed carefully and transparently whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
This is a hands‑on, operational role, communicating with customers over the phone and face to face with customers, their families, social care professionals and the DWP.
Key responsibilities
Manage a caseload of customers under DWP appointeeship
Set up and manage individual bank accounts
Pay rent, care fees, utilities and other essential bills
Complete benefit checks and make new claims where required
Complete and sign DWP forms and report changes in circumstances
Create and monitor simple, personalised budgets
Arrange day‑to‑day spending money, including pre‑paid cards
Liaise with families, care providers, social workers and other professionals
Carry out regular customer reviews
Maintain accurate records and protect confidentiality
What we’re looking for
Experience in financial administration, customer service or similar
Confident working with people, numbers, systems and multiple priorities
Understanding of the benefits system and social care,
Clear, respectful communication skills
A calm, organised approach and strong attention to detail
A genuine interest in supporting vulnerable people
Experience in appointeeship or benefits is helpful but not essential. Training is provided. A full driver’s licence and access to a car for work is preferred.

Your role will ensure Appointeeships are managed with a person centred approach that promotes the independence of the individual.
The successful candidates will have a background in financial administration and have excellent IT and customer service skills being able to communicate information to people with differing communication needs. Experience working in a similar role would be ideal.
