What if plantar pressure monitoring didn’t stop when the patient left the clinic?

Join us on Wednesday 2 September for the second free webinar in our Diabetic Foot Pressure series: Smart Insoles and the Future of Diabetic Foot Prevention.

Presented by Lise Pape, Tech Entrepreneur and Founder of Walk With Path, the session will explore how smart insole technology could help clinicians understand what is happening in a patient’s own footwear, during everyday activity and between clinical appointments.

Using Walk With Path’s Path Feel system as a practical example, Lise will explore:

* How smart insoles can measure plantar pressure, temperature, and activity.
* How data can be shared through patient-facing apps and clinician dashboards.
* The potential for graded alerts to help identify patients who may need earlier review.
* Current evidence around the accuracy, reliability, and validation of smart insole technology.
* The opportunities and practical challenges of remote monitoring within diabetic foot care.

What happens between a pressure reading and an ulcer - and how much earlier could clinicians intervene if plantar loading could be monitored beyond the clinic?

Tomorrow, Algeos Academy begins a journey from pressure data to prevention.

🎓 First, Hardeep Mehmi examines what plantar pressure measurements actually mean in practice: from mechanical stress and pressure thresholds to offloading, structural change, and the wider factors that contribute to tissue breakdown.

🦶Then, in partnership with Walk with Path, Lise Pape takes the conversation beyond the clinic. Discover how smart pressure-sensing insoles can identify high-risk loading patterns, support continuous monitoring, and open new possibilities for earlier intervention and patient self-management.

Two free live webinars. One clinically urgent question: could better pressure insight help prevent the next ulcer?

Mobility loss in people with diabetes can have a significant impact on function, gait, pressure distribution, tissue resilience, and ulcer risk.

Our new webinar, Movement matters: Restoring function in people with diabetes, looks at where rehabilitation fits within diabetes ulcer prevention and management.

Led by Hardeep Mehmi, this session will explore the MSK consequences of diabetes, hyperglycaemia, and neuropathy, including changes to tissue elasticity, soft tissue stiffness, muscle function, tendon health, and lower-limb mechanics.

The webinar will also guide clinicians on recognising early MSK changes and considering practical rehab strategies to support mobility, preserve function, and reduce risk.

Live: Wednesday 24th June, 7pm–8:30pm
Access: Three months for all registrants
Price: £25, including an exclusive Algeos discount

Pressure-related tissue damage remains a major challenge across clinical and care settings, especially for patients who are frail, bedbound, neuropathic, or at higher risk of skin breakdown.

Join Michelle Weddell, Podiatry Lecturer and Clinician, for a practical webinar exploring how pressure damage develops, how to identify risk earlier, and how evidence-based prevention strategies can support better patient outcomes.

The session will cover the relationship between load, time and tissue, the differences between pressure injury, damage and ulceration, common high-risk areas such as the heels and malleoli, and practical approaches to screening, offloading and device selection.

Designed for clinicians and care professionals, this webinar offers clear, clinically grounded guidance to support day-to-day decision-making in pressure care.

Did you feel prepared to go into practice when graduating university?

There’s a growing recognition across the profession that we need to better prepare students for the realities of orthotic practice. Research continues to highlight this gap (Leach et al, 2024), and it was great to be back with Cardiff Metropolitan University last week for a second session - building that bridge between education and clinical application.

This session focused on Level 6 students as they move closer to life in practice, exploring custom foot orthoses in real depth. From clinical reasoning and workflows through to scanning, digital technology and manufacturing, it was all about connecting theory to what actually happens in-clinic.

There was a real curiosity around 3D printing, digital workflows, and how these fit into modern podiatry. Bringing this into case-based discussions made it feel tangible and relevant, not just theoretical.

A big thank you to everyone involved, and to the students for getting stuck in!
