A little reminder for your bank holiday Monday.

You don't have to make today productive.

You don't need to catch up on everything.

You don't need to start a new routine because September is coming.

Sometimes the most useful thing you can do for your gut is… nothing particularly exciting.

Go outside. Have a slow walk. Notice the sky. Let the kids run around in the overgrown grass. Eat something you enjoy. Drink some water. Rest when you're tired.

Our guts are constantly responding to everything going on around us, and sometimes giving the whole system a bit of breathing space is exactly what we need.

So here's to a very ordinary bank holiday Monday.

No reset.
No detox.
No perfect routine.

Just a bit of fresh air and some blue sky. šŸ’š

Happy bank holiday.

"Just try more fibre." "It's probably just stress." That's not a plan, it's a shrug.

IBS, chronic constipation and rumination syndrome are physiological. They need a physiological plan: understand what's happening in your gut, then retrain the behaviour driving it. That's exactly what the evidence behind gut-directed hypnotherapy, biofeedback and diaphragmatic breathing supports.

We're not wellness coaches guessing. HCPC-registered clinical scientists. RSB Fellow. BSG-accredited. BSPGHAN members. NHS-level training, adult and paediatric, decades of experience. Built to catch the people the system missed, dismissed, or left waiting.

92% of programme starters complete it. 82% see significant or complete symptom resolution.

This isn't wellness. It's physiology, applied properly. Message us to start.

There’s something about the weather changing that makes you realise summer is slowly packing its bags šŸ‚

The mornings are feeling a little cooler, the evenings are getting darker and suddenly September is just around the corner.

And honestly? I’m quite ready for it.

New routines. School starting. Cosier evenings. A bit more structure after the chaos of summer.

But one thing I always notice when the seasons change is how much it can affect our bodies; including our gut.

Changes in routine, sleep, activity, stress, food and even hydration can all have an impact on how your digestive system feels.

So as we head into September, maybe it’s not about a big health reset.

Maybe it’s just about gently getting back into the things that make you feel good šŸ¤Ž

September has a habit of resetting everything, including your gut.
Rebuilding regular meal times does more for digestion than any new supplement. Same bedtime, same wake up, same rough eating windows. Boring, but it works.

Your gut doesn’t need a perfect diet; it needs consistency and variety.

A few simple food habits can make a big difference: eat a variety of plants, include plenty of fibre, and remember that fluids matter too.

No detoxes. No ā€œgut cleansesā€. No expensive superfoods.

Just ordinary food, eaten regularly, with a bit of variety.

What’s one small gut-friendly habit you could add this week?

No perfectly staged wellness morning here.

Just me, Coco, a walk and the rare occasion where she actually looked at the camera and smiled. šŸ˜‚šŸ¶

It's a good reminder that gut health isn't always another thing to do.

Sometimes it's getting out of the house.

Moving a bit.

Getting some fresh air.

Letting your nervous system have five minutes off.

Doing something that makes you happy.

And then going home and having a cup of tea because you're absolutely knackered. šŸ˜‚

Real life > perfect gut health routines.

šŸ’ Sometimes you just have to stop and take notice…

This little guy decided to jump onto my car when we visited Knowsley Safari Park šŸ˜‚

It got me thinking about how often we ignore the little signs our body gives us because we’re busy, rushing around or simply not paying attention.
Our gut can be a bit like that too.

Sometimes our body is saying ā€œHey… pay attention to me!ā€ but we don’t always know where to start.

That’s one of the reasons I love what I do with Simply Gut Health.

We are now offering FREE, no-obligation gut health calls where we can have a chat about you, your lifestyle and what you’re experiencing.
No pressure. No judgement. Just a friendly conversation to help you understand where you could start.

So if you’ve been thinking ā€œI really need to do something about my gut healthā€ but haven’t known where to begin…

Maybe this is your sign.

šŸ’ If a monkey can stop me in my tracks, maybe it’s time we stopped and listened to our bodies too!

Does your gut have its own monthly cycle?

If you've noticed your bowel habits shift around your period, you're not imagining it.
Some people notice:
šŸ”ø Looser stools or diarrhoea around their period
šŸ”ø More frequent bowel movements
šŸ”ø Constipation at other points in the cycle
šŸ”ø More bloating, abdominal discomfort, or urgency

The Guardian has been talking about "period poops," so let's talk about what's actually going on.
Reference: theguardian.com/wellness/2026/aug/03/period-menstrual-cycle-poops?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

Hormonal fluctuations, particularly the drop in progesterone and the rise in prostaglandins around menstruation, can directly affect gut motility. Prostaglandins don't just act on the uterus, they act on the gut too, which is part of why cramps and gut symptoms so often show up together.
It doesn't mean your gut is broken.
Your hormones and your gut are constantly communicating. If you notice a predictable pattern around your cycle, that's useful information, not something to panic about.

Try this: track your bowel habits alongside your cycle for a couple of months. Not to obsess over every šŸ’©, but to spot patterns. Your gut might be giving you information you hadn't noticed before.

Does your gut change around your period? Tell us what happens for you.

Ever noticed your gut feels off on holiday, even when you're relaxed?
New time zones, later meals, more alcohol, less fibre. None of that is a coincidence. Your gut runs on routine, and holidays are the biggest routine disruptor there is.
If this sounds familiar, our free symptom tracker can help you spot the pattern. Link in our bio.
