The anxiety of eating out isn't in your head. It just feels that way, because no one has ever explained what's actually happening.

Your gut and your brain are in constant two-way communication. In a sensitised gut, that conversation
goes wrong.

Swipe to understand exactly how and what changes when you do.

We have rebuilt a big chunk of the website because we kept hearing the same thing: people were not sure what we did or where to begin. Hopefully it is much clearer now.

There is a free Discovery Call, a free guide download, a quiz and a lot more information about how we work.

No hard sell, just a better starting point.

The link is in our bio but I'll pop it in our stories too 💚

PS: if you spot any errors or typos please let us know 🙏

Most gut health advice treats the symptom and ignores the rest.

The bloating, the pain, the unpredictability; they're not random. They have drivers. And until those drivers are understood, nothing really sticks.

At Simply Gut Health, we're a clinic led by Clinical Scientists. We look at the whole picture: your physiology, your nervous system, your relationship with food. Not just what you're eating.

If you've tried the diets, the supplements, and the elimination plans (and you're still here) it might be time for a different kind of support.

Book your free discovery call: no obligation, just a conversation.
Or download our free guide: "Why Nothing Has Worked For Your Gut"

Both are linked on our page.

I think one of the hardest lessons to learn about health is that a bad day doesn't mean you're going backwards.

We expect progress to look like this:
📈📈📈📈📈

But in reality it looks more like this:
📈📉📈➡️📉📈

A bad night's sleep.
A symptom flare.
A stressful week.
A day when your body just says "not today".

It's easy to assume those moments mean all your hard work has been undone.

Usually, they don't.

One difficult day is just one difficult day.

The real magic happens when you stop judging your progress by your worst moments and start looking at the overall direction of travel.

Keep going.

Not perfectly.
Just consistently.

A question for everyone:

When were you first taught what a normal bowel habit actually looks like?

For most people, the answer is never.

As someone who works in gut health, one of the most common things I hear is, "I thought that was normal."

Whether it's constipation, bloating, diarrhoea or tummy pain, people often live with symptoms for years because nobody ever told them otherwise.

I've written a blog explaining some of the surprising ways your bowels can affect your health, mood and quality of life.

If you're interested, you can read it here:

Hopefully it helps a few people realise they don't have to just put up with digestive symptoms.

It's 2am and you're Googling again.

Three hours in. Seventeen tabs open. Five possible conditions. One very unhelpful forum. You feel worse than when you started.

We hear this from almost everyone we work with. Here's the thing... generic information
cannot solve a specific problem.

Your gut condition is yours.
Your physiology. Your nervous system.
Your patterns.

Understanding that specifically
is where everything changes.

We're two NHS clinical scientists with 40 years of experience between us.

we're sharing in June. Also in bio.

Travel is one of the biggest gut disruptors, even in people who are usually symptom-free. Different food, changed routine, less movement, dehydration, stress, different time zones… your gut notices all of it.

That’s why symptoms like bloating, constipation, urgency or reflux often flare when you’re away. The good news: small things make a big difference...
✔️ Keep fluids up (dehydration slows digestion fast)
✔️ Move your body daily (even walking counts)
✔️ Don’t suddenly change your entire diet if you don’t need to
✔️ Stick to some routine where you can (especially morning/evening meals)
✔️ Give your gut time, it usually settles once you’re back in rhythm

Travel doesn’t have to mean “gut chaos” but it does mean your body needs a bit more support than usual. Comment TRAVEL and I’ll send you our gut travel checklist.

We hear the same worries before almost every first call. So let's deal with them now.

"My diet is terrible."
Good. We're not here to judge your diet.
We're here to understand your physiology.

"I've tried everything and nothing worked."
Even better. That tells us exactly
where to start.

"I'll be embarrassed talking about my symptoms."
We are clinical scientists. We have 40 years experience between us. We have heard everything. There is nothing you can say that will shock or embarrass us.

"I don't know enough about my condition to explain it."
You don't need to.
That's our job.

"What if it doesn't work for me?"
That's what the first call is for. If we can't help, we'll tell you. We only work with people we genuinely believe we can help.

"I've left it too long."
You haven't.

The only thing you need to bring to the first call is yourself.

That's it.

Gut health is having a moment, but so is something else: A growing number of scientists are now warning that microbiome testing and gut health analysis are developing faster than the standards needed to interpret them properly.

Recent reporting highlights a key issue: **Different labs and companies can produce very different results from the same sample, with no agreed baseline for what “healthy” actually looks like.**

And that matters.

Because while gut health science is incredibly promising, parts of the industry are already being used for personalised diet and supplement advice that isn’t fully standardised or regulated yet.

This isn’t about dismissing gut health science. It’s about recognising where the evidence is still catching up. The future is clear, better diagnostics, more personalised health, deeper understanding of the microbiome.

But right now, even experts are calling for clearer standards before the science moves further into consumer hands.
