Losing just 10 pounds can relieve 40 pounds of pressure from your knees because of a 4-to-1 ratio between body weight and joint stress during daily activities like walking.

This happens because the knee functions as a complex lever where the forces of gravity and muscle contractions—specifically from the quadriceps and hamstrings—multiply the actual weight the joint must support.

For every single pound lost, you remove roughly 4 pounds of compressive force with every step.
