Please read and share and if you can help by putting any objections to planning through the link.
Isn't it vile that a library could be replaced by somewhere to syphon much needed cash from our community members, funny enough one of the reasons I was first inspired to set up our hub was the fact that when I was struggling with depression and anxiety, the only local places to just go and be where the likes of this, places to drain rather than inspire people.
Libraries and places where the community can gather and enjoy, grow and learn are vital to us all and should be supported wholeheartedly ♥️📚
Books not bookies!
Last week we were disappointed to hear that local business' and residents near to the former Breck Road Library had been informed of a planning application had been made to turn the former site into a betting shop ! 📚
Over the past 11 months we have seen local activists tirelessly campaign week in and week out to re-open the Library which provided so much to many in our neighbourhood. It promoted access to books and education as well as acting as a vital community hub hosting many services such as Children's play sessions, Craft mornings, Film afternoons and more.
To hear that a betting shop could potential take it's place is heart breaking. Betting shops are a perfect representation on how wealth is withdrawn from our communities. Praying on people's vulnerabilities and lining the pockets of individuals and shareholders a world away from the realities of deprivation that our community faces daily.
We must say NO! We're asking all those who used the library or know of someone who did to use Liverpool City Council's planning permission portal to voice objections. The more voices the better chance that this will be blocked. We also are asking people to continue to support Everton and Anfield need a library campaign and push for adequate and accessible library provision to be reinstated in the area.
