💫I’ve been a little quiet on here over the past few weeks

Summer has been busy, full of family time and precious moments like these 🥰

Sometimes it’s good to simply slow down and enjoy them

But there’s also been lots happening quietly behind the scenes…

💫This week many families and maternity professionals have been reflecting on the findings of the latest Ockenden report

At the heart of this report are families whose voices were not heard

Every woman deserves to feel listened to, respected and fully involved in decisions about her care

As maternity professionals we have a responsibility to listen, to learn and to continually strive to provide safe, compassionate and personalised care

As expectant parents please remember:

💜Your instincts matter
💜 You have the right to ask questions
💜You have the right to understand your options
💜You deserve to be treated with kindness, dignity and respect

Preparing for birth isn't just about understanding labour, it's about understanding your choices, knowing your rights and feeling empowered to speak up and be heard

Today I am thinking of all the families whose experiences have contributed to this review and hoping that meaningful change continues across maternity services

One of the greatest gifts we can give expectant parents is knowledge, confidence and the reassurance that their voice matters💫
