It's Shiatsu Awareness Month, so I am posting a bit more about my work, and about shiatsu!
For those who are interested, here is an overview of what I am up to this month.
First, and most important for my work, I am seeing plenty of shiatsu clients! I see clients four days a week, and at the moment I have a waiting list for new clients as I am quite busy.
I have several regular clients who I see every week or two; some come once a month or every 6 weeks; some people come for a few sessions, then have a break, then come back. Some pop in when they have time and money, or when they are in the area!
I will be teaching one day this month at Shiatsu College, Manchester, including some practical review work, some assessments, teaching exercises and shiatsu for the Conception Vessel.
I am also doing quite a bit of marking as people get their assignments in for the end of the year!
I am organising a shiatsu workshop at Shiatsu College, Manchester which is on 6th June, being taught by my colleague Vicky - Soothing Summer Shiatsu.
There is quite a bit of marketing to be done this month. We are making some Facebook content for The Shiatsu College to showcase our courses starting in the Autumn. We have the Shiatsu Society (UK) coming to take photos and videos, and do some interviews, which I am co-ordinating with my colleague Barbara, and I'm also being photographed and videoed! I'm posting a bit more for Shiatsu Awareness Month, and I will be a Practitioner in Focus for the Shiatsu Society (UK).
I have also just set my CPD workshops for the next academic year, so I will do a bit more to let people know about them - one on shiatsu for the back (November 7th), and one on shiatsu, imagination and the breath (February 27th).
I am completing the admin for the Shiatsu College Retreat, which we held in April - collating participants' feedback and sharing it with my colleagues. We hope to have the next one in 2028.
As it's nearing the end of the academic year, I will be looking at the finances for Shiatsu College, Manchester, reviewing our notes for next year, and participating in The Shiatsu College Internal Verification process. This means we are going to discuss our teaching of Chinese Medicine, and have the chance to learn from colleagues at other branches, who will have great ideas I haven't thought of!
In terms of my personal development, I am lucky enough to be a case study for a friend who is doing a course in Guiding and Witnessing in movement. This means I am getting some great opportunities for movement in a held space, and interesting conversations about leading and following, holding space, and other topics!
