Take this list with you when you visit:

1️⃣ How do you get to know each person's strengths, interests and goals?
2️⃣ What does a typical day look like, and how much choice is there?
3️⃣ How are staff trained in autism, and who will support my family member?
4️⃣ How do you support sensory needs, communication and anxiety?
5️⃣ How do you involve the person and family, and track progress?

The right provision should see the person, not just the label.

School support and adult support are different 🧡

Transition changes the system around a young person. People may change. Routines may change. Services may change.

4 differences to know:
1️⃣ School is built around the school. Adult support is built around the person.
2️⃣ Familiar routines change, so structure needs planning.
3️⃣ At school, reviews happen for you. In adulthood, you have to ask.
4️⃣ The goal moves from education to a full life.

Ask what happens next before education ends.

Many families know they need support for their autistic young person or adult, but they are not always sure what adult day opportunities actually look like.

At Tade Autism Centre, we believe a meaningful day should be about much more than simply having somewhere to go.

Depending on the individual, support and activities might focus on:

❤️ Building practical life skills
💙 Developing communication
🧡 Creative and engaging activities
💚 Technology and digital skills
💛 Confidence and independence
💜 Community participation
❤️ Personal interests and individual goals

Every autistic person is different. That means support should begin with the person, not with a one size fits all programme.

The question should not simply be:

“How do we fill their day?”

It should be:

“What would make this day meaningful for this person?”
That difference matters.
