Why focus on step count in the fourth trimester?

Getting out everyday for a short or long walk has a multitude of benefits.
* Provides you and the baby with some vitamin D
* Boosts mood by increasing serotonin.
* Helps to regulate babies circadian rhythm.
* Is a form of low impact cardio, which improves heart health and fat metabolism.
* It’s free and requires little equipment (usually I would say no equipment but… babies 😉)
And that stuff is not light. I went to my parents for the bank holiday pushing 12kg+ in the pram and wearing my cute little 4kg weight vest. All that stuff adds up and is worthy of a place on any resistance training program (ahem sled push anyone?)

Adding just 500 steps to your current average and then aiming to add another 500 every 3-4 days is progressive overload.

These small consistent actions compound and create great results over time 💪

It’s time to start thinking about what fitness is going to look like for me over the next few months.

It’s certainly going to look different to before, I have different priorities and less time as well as the physical changes that have happened.

My goal is to show what postpartum training looks like for me, the highs and the lows to hopefully help and inspire others going through the same journey.

It’s been getting a little harder to accommodate the bump as it grows! So here are some of the modifications I’ve been making while training at the gym.

I’m keeping the weights light, no PBs here! The only PB I’m aiming for is making it to the gym this far along and being able to move my body.

Bonus point if you can spot when I forgot the name of an exercise! 🤪

Easing back into it after a very relaxing Christmas!

The bump is bigger now so I am having to adapt positions. No lying flat on my back or doing anything that will press against my stomach.

Really enjoying having some energy back and being able to push slightly heavier weights again!

Client spotlight! 🌟🔦

2 years ago Nana and I started training together with the goal of getting stronger! We started off with a fullbody strength based program including 30kg deadlifts.

Last week we hit her goal of a 100kg deadlift for 3 reps!!! She achieved this with determination and consistency. She has shown up every week and got a little closer to her goal. I couldn’t be more proud!

I can’t wait to see what she achieves next year! Go Nana!!
