Why focus on step count in the fourth trimester?
Getting out everyday for a short or long walk has a multitude of benefits.
* Provides you and the baby with some vitamin D
* Boosts mood by increasing serotonin.
* Helps to regulate babies circadian rhythm.
* Is a form of low impact cardio, which improves heart health and fat metabolism.
* It’s free and requires little equipment (usually I would say no equipment but… babies 😉)
And that stuff is not light. I went to my parents for the bank holiday pushing 12kg+ in the pram and wearing my cute little 4kg weight vest. All that stuff adds up and is worthy of a place on any resistance training program (ahem sled push anyone?)
Adding just 500 steps to your current average and then aiming to add another 500 every 3-4 days is progressive overload.
These small consistent actions compound and create great results over time 💪
