Return of Old Symptoms ... And What They Mean.
In homeopathy, the return of old symptoms is not a setback — it’s a clear sign that the Vital Force is working deeply. Suppressed conditions from years ago, such as migraines, hay fever, or joint pain, can briefly reappear as the body clears accumulated layers of ill-health, usually in reverse order of their appearance. This follows Hering’s Law of Cure and indicates genuine progress toward lasting wellness rather than temporary relief.

Injuries happen when we least expect them. A small fall, a twist, a bump, something that catches us off guard. And often, it is not just the physical discomfort. There is shock, stiffness, soreness, sometimes even that moment of “I am fine” when the body clearly says otherwise.

This is where homeopathy can be such a helpful support.

Arnica is one of the first remedies many people reach for after knocks, bruises, or falls. That sore, bruised feeling, where even the bed feels too hard, is very characteristic.

Rhus tox is often considered when stiffness sets in after rest and improves with gentle movement. That feeling of needing to keep moving to stay comfortable.

Ruta may be helpful when tendons and ligaments are involved, especially after strain or overuse.

Symphytum is often remembered for support with bone injuries and recovery after impact.

Hypericum can be thought of when nerves are involved and pain feels sharp, shooting, or intense.

It is always about matching the remedy to how the injury feels, not just what happened. And of course, if something feels serious, always seek medical help.

Homeopathy can sit alongside care, offering support as the body recovers.

If you would like to feel more confident using remedies like these, our One Day Homeopathy Workshop runs monthly and is a lovely, practical introduction.

Sinusitis, is an acute or chronic condition of the respiratory system where there is inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, which may or may not be as a result of infection from bacterial, fungal, viral, allergic or autoimmune issues, characterized by pain over the affected sinus, purulent nasal discharge, nasal obstruction and congestion, and fever.

The causes of sinusitis may include: bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The predisposing factors are; allergens, deviated septum, small sinus opening, smoking, nasal polyps, and tooth infections.

Behind the bones of the face there some hollow spaces filled with air, which lead to the nasal cavity. These are called sinuses. Sinuses have the same mucous membrane lining as the nose. The membrane produces a slimy secretion (mucus), keeping the nasal passages moist. The mucus also traps dirt particles and microorganisms.

There are four sinuses;
* Frontal sinuses, located above the eyes in the frontal bone
* Ethmoid sinuses, located between the eyes in the ethmoid bone
* Sphenoid sinus, located behind the eyes in the sphenoid bone
* Maxillary sinuses, located in the maxillary bones, they are the largest and hence most commonly affected. These all four sinuses are grouped together as paranasal sinuses.

The paranasal sinuses are connected to the inside of the nose by very small hole which allows drainage of mucus into the nasal cavity to help moisten inhaled air. The other functions of the paranasal sinuses include: to lighten the weight of the head, humidifying inhaled air, and increase the resonance of speech.

During sinusitis, the mucous membranes of the nose, sinuses and throat become inflamed. Inflammation lead to swelling of the paranasal sinuses which therefore, blocks the sinus openings and prevent mucus drainage normally into the nasal cavity, causing facial pain, anosmia(loss of sense of smell), fever, sore throat etc. Blocked sinuses creates a moist environment that makes it easier for infection to take hold. Sinuses that become infected and can't drain mucus, become pus filled, leading to symptoms such as thick, yellow or greenish nasal discharge and other symptoms of infection. If not treated, complications may arise such as chronic sinusitis, septicemia, meningitis.

Whether you are dealing with acute sinus symptoms as part of a cough or cold or more chronic sinusitis homeopathic remedies can help you feel better – gently, quickly and with no side effects. Speak to your local Homeopathic Doctor about the amazing benefits of homeopathy for Sinusitis.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome: the language of the gut

The gastrointestinal tract does far more than digestion.
It is part of a complex network connecting the nervous system, hormones and the immune system.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) illustrates how this system can become dysregulated.

Many people experience abdominal pain, bloating and changes in bowel habits, yet medical tests often reveal little that fully explains the symptoms.
Research into the gut–brain axis has shown that the digestive system is in constant communication with the brain, the immune system and the intestinal microbiota.
Together, these systems help regulate gut movement, sensitivity and immune activity.

Stress and emotional strain may, in some individuals, be associated with changes in gut function and symptom intensity.
Such relationships are rarely linear and may vary from person to person.
One of the most important clinical observations is this:
people with IBS do not experience their symptoms in the same way.

Within classical homeopathy, these differences are not seen as minor details; they are central to understanding the individual.
Careful case taking focuses on the pattern of symptoms.
What makes the symptoms better or worse?
Are they influenced by food, temperature, time of day or emotional stress?
These are known as modalities, and they help reveal how the body responds.
Equally important are the sensations themselves.
Is the pain cramping, burning, pressing or shifting?
Does it come and go, or remain constant?
Food cravings and aversions may also form part of the pattern.
Broader aspects such as sleep, energy, temperature sensitivity and emotional responses are considered alongside the physical symptoms.
These elements are understood together, as part of a connected whole.

IBS points to a broader clinical reality:that a diagnosis may describe the condition, but not the pattern through which it is experienced.
To recognise this is to shift attention from what is named, to how it unfolds within the individual.
