Mentors guide us. Sponsors advocate for us. We need both.
This week, our Women's Network welcomed Dr Lateesha Osbourne, a leadership consultant and psychologist specialising in inclusive leadership, workplace culture and helping people thrive at work, for an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on mentorship and sponsorship.
Through practical examples, personal experiences and open conversation, attendees explored the different ways people can support one another throughout their careers.
A mentor helps us learn, grow and navigate challenges. A sponsor helps create opportunities, opens doors and advocates for us when we're not in the room. Both can have a profound impact throughout our careers.
One of the insights that resonated strongly throughout the session was:
✨ "People can't advocate for goals they don't know you have."
✨ "Do It Ugly, Do It Scared"
The discussion prompted reflection on how we talk about our ambitions, how we build supportive networks and how we can be more intentional in helping others succeed.
A huge thank you to Dr Lateesha Osbourne for sharing her expertise, energy and insights with us.
We're proud to support initiatives that create opportunities for connection, learning and professional growth, helping colleagues build confidence, develop leadership skills and support one another to thrive.
