Before the kids headed back to school, we squeezed in a little trip to Paris. A few lovely days being tourists and exploring, before I decided to round things off by getting ill. Impeccable timing🫠 🇫🇷

I’m not quite sure this had the desired effect I was hoping for, but I’m willing to give anything a go 😂 All jokes aside, it can be helpful to use a doll or teddy bear to bring a little bit of fun to toilet training whilst helping encourage them to sit on the toilet or potty. And since filming this, I’ve successfully managed to get the doll to wee and Belle absolutely loves it.

Like I said, as parents we’re always learning, even when you’re doing it for the third time. Every child is different, and what works for one might not work for another. So please leave your potty training tips below so we can all help each other out.

I’m really pleased to see this change coming in. As both a doctor and a mum, I think energy drinks have become so normalised amongst teenagers that it’s easy to forget how much caffeine some of them can contain, and the effect that can have on things like sleep, anxiety and concentration.

We all want our children to make healthy choices, but when these drinks are so easy to access and so heavily marketed, that isn’t always straightforward. So for me, putting clearer boundaries in place feels like a really positive step. Of course, conversations at home still matter, but having that extra layer of protection can only help.

I’d be interested to hear what other parents think.

There’s something so calming about being surrounded by a field of lavender. It’s become one of my little yearly traditions, and it’s just too beautiful not to stop and take a few photos and the kids love it especially Belle. This was the first year where she was absolutely fascinated by the smells, the colours and of course the bees 🐝☺️

The back-to-school shop can add up very quickly once you factor in uniform, shoes, PE kit, bags and everything else that comes with a new school year. I completely understand the importance of school uniform and the sense of identity and belonging it can bring, but giving parents a little more flexibility over where they buy some of those everyday pieces feels like a positive change.

Every school and every family is different, but hopefully these new rules will make things that little bit easier for some, without taking away from what school uniform is there to do. It’ll be interesting to see how much of a difference parents actually notice when the changes come in this September.
